Reeeeally?
The majority of the adult population don’t visit pubs? I find that hard to believe. A big chunk won’t I’m sure but not the majority?

What's your point?

There's places I never go and things I never do, doesn't mean I don't appreciate those things matter a great deal to others.

Any official stats to back that up?

COVID, and to a lesser extent the rules and regulations have made it a much more formal affair and consequently something people are less likely to do on a whim. There is also the fact, as highlighted above, that people are going to be less inclined to go back to venues where mingling with people is guaranteed, particularly if they feel that the people going there are of a “masks are muzzles, fight the power!” disposition - so hospitality stuff is probably going to have an uncertain, probably negative future anyway, pubs most of all.
Except that, in places which have lifted restrictions, that's just not the case is it?

but is the area that have lifted the restrictions in exactly the same point of the infection ? Not every country is at the same point and thouse lifting restrictions may be at a better point on their curve than others.

There are scientists and people with knowledge of infection and trending making decisions here, we have already seen people on here state its seasonal when the reality is that it is not. the full picture and data set properly interrogated and understood ?

He got the accurate information from the link he posted. Do you have a source which proves him wrong?

That survey was "as of Dec 2020" ..... During the pandemic.. I'd expect the figures to be even lower.

How old are you Alucid? Because you’re immature use of emojis really does make you look a bit of a child.

Look above and you’ll see that once my question was answered I thanked V8.

It actually says for 2019 to 2020 but no figures can be totally accurate. There cannot be any official figures, it's not like it's a question in the census .All figures come from a poll and then a multiplier added.

Yes, it was done by an online poll. It was done by all the people with nothing better to do with their life than than fill in online polls.
Every one else was down the pub enjoying themselves.

This thread has taken a weird turn.

The village I grew up in has a population of around 5500.

There's one pub.

Do some of you really believe that most people go the pub on a regular basis?

I was surprised by that as well. I was a relatively regular pub-goer before the pandemic, and I expect I will be again, but I'd never have thought most people would be.

Not at all, but a lot still go.

A lot less than when I was in my 20s, but still a lot. Our village pub is heaving on the weekends and Sundays.

Even pre pandemic I'd expect survey results to be at or under 50% for pubs (not including eating out). Most guys I know go out at least once a week and most of their partners do not....

But most people I know of either gender go out for dinner occasionally.

A weird turn indeed, but far less aggressive and patronising so far.....

You are replying to some imagined point which I didn't make.

...which is easily disproved by packed stadiums recently in US states which have lifted restrictions. And packed bars in eastern europe. People are quite happy to go back to venues and mingle with others, as soon as their governments and media stop spamming them with nonstop fear porn.

Just saw some graffiti:-
