Just for colour, bit outside the OPS efforts. I've just received my punishment for 102 in a 70. Took over 18mths from date of offence to work through the court system: 6pts and 1 week wage fine.
Ban would probably have been a better outcome, but is what it is.
Was dealt with remotely, was offered chance to attend or send in a statement of impact. Chose the latter, not sure if it was a better route or not. Possibly not as fine feels high.
Fine is spot on, I think - band c so 150% less a third for guilty plea.Ban would probably have been a better outcome, but is what it is.

The insurance implications are more severe with a ban than points.

That really is not the case, insurance is a very personal thing and depends very much on individual circumstances. It's like the blanket assertion you see on here all the time that being involved or reporting a no fault accident without any claim will automatically put your premium up, it's utter tosh, for some it may, for others it won'tSheepshanks said:

"Fine Band C" and a guilty plea at the earliest opportunity means the most likely fine is N and the sentencing range is 5N/6 to 7N/6 - where N is net weekly income. N must not exceed 1000 if non-motorway or 2500 if motorway offence. Sometimes they get this wrong and apply a Starting Point in excess of the maximum. That's plainly wrong in principle and would be subject to appeal. ...

He'll be cheered to know that a colleague of mine who was on 6 or 9 points (he wasn't sure of the timing) and was snapped at 102 on the M25 while rushing to Heathrow, replied to the NIP never heard any more about it.
