Read what I posted, so exactly as I said, it then just becomes a camera site with a few old codgers with clipboards standing around watching, so I still don't see the point you are trying to make. You do know that Police news letter content is subject to just as much, if not more journalistic B****ks as the average tabloid dont you?
"to allow groups to issue on the spot fines" well that's a new one
The most distressing bit of this sorry tale is the use of "‘Flipping the bird’" I mean just how un-British. What ever happened to the V sign or pair of fingers, why has this septic interloper been allowed in Britain.
Time to lobby parliament to add it to the Highway Code "you must use the V sign" none of that should lark.
It is even more 'lower decks' that the coffee signal.

It’s too hot to argue, with especially as I think we’re more or less in agreement. You do know that Police news letter content is subject to just as much, if not more journalistic B****ks as the average tabloid dont you?

Nobody likes a badly modified exhaust, but the music from a sport system or bike engine with a titanium exhaust is, sonically, a wonderful thing!
When you hear hundreds of brain dead fkers going past with them every day I can assure you that they are anything but a “wonderful thing” - the owners of them are self-absorbed s. Seriously: 99.9% of people hearing a loud exhaust think you’re a total weapon. They’re a total bane, whether you’re in an urban or rural setting.

I had my own version of that, I turned into a street and a mother and child were sauntering across the road, the child, about 6yo was way back, and just slowed her walking and stared at me - weird! I did not flick the bird though. My wife had a giggle at the death stare that the child gave me. I was doing all of 15mph I reckon.
Maybe she was sick of drivers who don't know about this?https://www.highwaycodeuk.co.uk/road-junctions.htm...
most people i have seen who purposefully slow down infront of a car even when you have given them way look like they have not achieved much in life. no wonder why.
To be honest if the police do very little about house break ins and car theft. I doubt the police would be interest if the local curtain twitchers said someone flipped them the bird whilst driving at 40mph.
I would have thought a prosecution requires a certain standard of evidence. Especially if the OP was to contest it. I doubt the local curtain twitchers in hi-vis vests meet that standard of evidence required.

If OP repeats his opening post verbatim to a magistrate as evidence for the defence you can see that going down really well I would have thought a prosecution requires a certain standard of evidence. Tbh theres really no good reason volunteer speed camera wouldn't meet the standard of evidence if they are trained in its operation, calibrated, and it's well above the limit. It's a far higher standard than he said she said that other far more serious criminal convictions are based on, and there's no subjectiveness.I would have thought a prosecution requires a certain standard of evidence. They could add some video recording if they wanted to back it up further.
I'll grovel, beg, and plead to the magistrate to avoid the dire consequences if I have to. I'm glad this discussion has stimulated the forum; it seems there's an even divide between drivers who agree that these speed catching heroes in the village are the suckers and those that think I'm of a low IQ, youth, silly, etc.
To be honest I mainly regret what a few of you pointed out - their actions, over time and with enough annoying of their local MP or other senior officials, might cause speed bumps to be installed. I regret my part in that if it does happen, as we need less crack downs and more open mindedness in society, generally.
Take care out there PHers and don't get busted! I'm off for an hour of sunset driving, I'll, err, try to be a decent motorist and stick to those pesky limits.
Try, being the key word.

I'm wondering if you have contemplated the other side of the argument. If you have problems with people driving past your house at a speed higher than the limit that you don't like, would you want to do something about it? If so what? The CSW people are easy targets for the pejorative types on here, but what if there is an actual problem with excess speed? I quite like the idea that people get up and try and resolve problems. They deserve respect for that.To be honest I mainly regret what a few of you pointed out - their actions, over time and with enough annoying of their local MP or other senior officials, might cause speed bumps to be installed. Mind you if you are of the view that any speed is ok anywhere then you'll think differently. What is your view on speed by the way? Does it matter? Should it be moderated or is any speed ok in any circumstances?

However it would have to get to a magistrates court in the first place! I doubt the CPS would pass “Nora in her hi-vis vest said a car was going too fast for her liking”It’s the same with dashcam footage submitted by the outraged who were cut up on their way to Morrison’s. Very few lead to any prosecution.

Either you do or don't mind people driving past at a certain speed, I don't see what the limit has to do with it? If you don't like people driving past at 40 in a 30 then surely you wouldn't like them doing 40 in a 60 either?Mind you if you are of the view that any speed is ok anywhere then you'll think differently. Maybe that’s why someone buys a house in a 30 limit and not on an NSL road?Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
