You’ll get a ticking off letter from the Soeedwatch. Although expect your vehicle to be ‘of interest’ potentially to local traffic cops.

So stop doing 40 through villages. HTH

ither you do or don't mind people driving past at a certain speed, I don't see what the limit has to do with it? If you don't like people driving past at 40 in a 30 then surely you wouldn't like them doing 40 in a 60 either?
Maybe that’s why someone buys a house in a 30 limit and not on an NSL road?
round here people buy houses in an NSL and then campaign to get the limits reduced because people keep driving fast past their house…

Really? And how do you know that just out of interest?

I'm wondering if you have contemplated the other side of the argument. If you have problems with people driving past your house at a speed higher than the limit that you don't like, would you want to do something about it? If so what? The CSW people are easy targets for the pejorative types on here, but what if there is an actual problem with excess speed? I quite like the idea that people get up and try and resolve problems. They deserve respect for that.

Mind you if you are of the view that any speed is ok anywhere then you'll think differently. What is your view on speed by the way? Does it matter? Should it be moderated or is any speed ok in any circumstances?
Either you do or don't mind people driving past at a certain speed, I don't see what the limit has to do with it? If you don't like people driving past at 40 in a 30 then surely you wouldn't like them doing 40 in a 60 either?
Yes fair point. Just interested if the OP has considered the other side of the argument where he wants people to slow down in certain circumstances.

What proportion of people have successfully lobbied for the current speed limit outside their house?

Goes from a 60 to 40 to a 30 in my village and I'm near the 30 part (where the village playarea/park is too). Regularly give the internationally recognised slow down wave as people come flying down the road nearly taking off on the protruding man-hole cover.

I ride sportsbikes so I'm not a complete drip, 50/nsl are the time and place. Not past a village school.

The really funny bit is where the OP ‘gives it a few revs’ as he passes as if he was 17 again (although by his posting style he could well be) and passing a crowd of teenage girls.

I hate to break it to the OP don’t think Doris and Mavis will moisten their nickers at the sound of a fruity exhaust.

If he was driving the car he says he has in his profile. They probably thought it was just an old car with a blowing exhaust.

I'm glad my commentating amused you in this way, that was the intention - it's a way of letting the do-gooders know that I've clocked them. We're just different tribes I suppose.

So having ‘clocked’ the do-gooders, what are you going to do with them?

Hi everyone,

Yesterday a gang of three do-gooders in high vis vests were using a small camera to film drivers in and out of their village. I had just come off a national speed section but was still drifting in at around 40mph. I did give them a few revs as I passed, hearing one of the blokes cry out, 'forty'. Presumably that is to add commentary to their taped footage. Of course I flipped them the bird as I passed.

I'm now wondering what they do with their 'evidence', and if I can expect to get any points because of it. Reading a few sources online suggests their evidence is basically worth nothing as it cannot be held to the standards required in court, if it were ever to proceed there.

There's still the nagging worry though as if I acquire 3 points, I will be banned.

Thanks for any helpful info on the subject.
Why not learn how to drive in public places?

This is the thing - I do respect local residents, and for probably 95% of the time do make effort to stick to the limits. But when I see the OAP brigade there carrying out hostile reconnaissance, I do make sure they know I've also seen them, and make clear my views on their actions. They cannot expect anything less, from the moment they donned the high-viz and picked up the clipboard & camera.

Nobody likes a badly modified exhaust, but the music from a sport system or bike engine with a titanium exhaust is, sonically, a wonderful thing! Some may disagree but when the time is right, I do let the car/bike sing. Usually NOT when in 30's except for this particular instance.

Some time back by (then) other half was caught breaking the 30mph limit in the village where we were living.

I understand from her conversation with the Police officer that stopped her, she was not the only local resident they had stopped that afternoon.

Did she say she'd learn how to drive properly or was she saying look others locally do it too so I'm not a bad person?

My next door neighbour was caught 3 times in a week through the same traffic light camera locally.

Maybe all the usual suspects who pile on the OP in every SP&L thread will do the same one day.
