How is that going to work going forward?
Buy used!
Agree but the problem being that can only last for so long. Even the best maintained cars come to end of life at some point
Well yes, obviously.
I sold a 230k 21 year old MV6 last year. It still had plenty of life left in it.

Can ISA reliably differentiate between mph and kph signs/territories? If not, be prepared for a fun time hehe
If you want a glimpse of the future, just use cruise control in a Mk. 8 Golf. My favourite experience so far was when I was doing 80ish in the outside lane of a busy motorway, the system incorrectly picked up on a 30mph sign, then got confused between mph and kph, changed the cruise control set speed to 19mph and started braking down to that speed.
Have all mk8 golfs been recalled for that to be fixed. Sounds fking dangerous..
No they haven't been recalled, VW don't know how to fix it. Though they have admitted to me in writing that it's dangerous.

It's unfathomably bad, I'm amazed the press here aren't kicking up a stink over it. I've seen a big report in the German press about how bad the Mk 8 Golf is.

If anyone is considering buying Golf sized hatchback, avoid the Mk 8 Golf like the plague. It's crap.

Or just go in the menu and turn off this pointless feature. Can you do that?

So VW expect the customers to disable their 'dangerous' CC system? That's a novel approach.

Emergency recall required to officially disable the malfunctioning system. But VW would get more egg-on-face which they don't like. Hope VW reaps the rewards of their further blunders.

Or, assuming it works via a camera looking at signs, cover the lens?

Fudging just one Mk 8 Golf doesn't solve the problem. Must be tens of thousands driving around just waiting to cause chaos...

I worked for a major manufacturer. Get a problem of this magnitude in the field and you react urgently. Cause an accident and kill a few people (or even just one) and the matter will end up in court.

Alternatively play it your way and sit on your arse praying nothing happens. VW did that before and paid the price.

Is the same system fitted in other cars in the VAG group using that floorpan etc?

most 'smart' guided cruise controls can be 'foiled' with a crisp packet caught in the wind. :O

I think the standard ACC is ok, but it's the one with traffic sign recognition, and even that can be turned off in the menus i think, but not sure if it switched back on next time the ignition is switched on?
