A family of five moved in to the house next door late last year, everything seemed fine until April.

The young lad urinates in my garden, the 15 year old girl exposes herself in the garage access road, the language is rascist.

They kick their ball at my car, then come into my garden via the flower beds to retrieve it.

I spoke with the council whove told me to keep a diary and that at the end of this week I can use anti dispersal laws, to have the dozen or so children who delight in sitting just on the edge of my front path, moved on.

Now the council advised me to also keep a video record, but I had a visit from the police this morning saying as they are minors I can't record them. Now, whilst I understand where the police are coming from, I still think I have a right to record what takes place on my property, so if it's a static camera covering my property, what law am I breaking, or do I need to put some sort of warning notice up.

As far as I know, you are entitled to put up a CCTV surveillance system, covering your property. You should, if I recall,
ensure it doesnt intrude unduly onto a public space
provide warning ntoices with the purpose of the surveillance system, and contact details etc (for examples, see council offices )

Also, if you buy a decent system, it might be able to penetrate the pixellation that occurs when a teenager wears a hoodie

On the other hand, be VERY wary about filming incidents where a legal minor is know to expose their shameful parts to the camera.....

warning notices only apply to a place of business, where you have to indicate the name and contact details of the 'data controller' ie you, to comply with the data protection act 1998.

I think the 'not unduly intruding on other/public space' applies though.

The police LOVE CCTV footage by the way.

Isn't it marvellous!!

The decent people are the ones having to take all the care, and the bums do what the hell they like, with little to stop them or deal with them.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Yeah in the current PC climate you'll probably end up on the sex offenders list whilst the scrotes get compensation and some new trainers

Shame you can't just shoot them!

Set up a webcam site, with continuous record, showing the life and times of that fine gnome at the bottom of your garden.

If the picture shows only your garden and nothing beyond it's not your fault if certain oiks intrude in the picture, is it?

Plod love video evidence but only if they can use it. I shot some video of local scrotes (including one who was subject to an ASBO and my video clearly showed him breaking it) and gave a copy (on DVD) to local plod. Great he said, perfect evidence except there's no time and date shown to prove when it was shot. Fortunately, it was shot on a DV camcorder which could be set to display the time and datecode, so I just did another copy with it displayed.

Could you not simply and innocently video things in your garden, but it just so happens that in the background all these shenanigans are going on?

Aren't you a BiB TripleX ?

I'd be interested in how the Police Officers (not the bloody Service) would attempt to "fix" this ?

get a very big and aggressive dog, and tie it up on a long lead so he can just reach the edge of your garden. put up a sign saying dog beware....discharge your liability to the scroats...allow him to roam on leash as he pleases....

If I install static CCTV, which records 24/7 just on my own property then, I will without doubt capture indicent images of minors, as the 9 year old boy is in no way discreet when urinating in my borders.

And the fifteen year old girl has been known to stand on my path whilst exposing herself and asking the older boys on the estate if they would like her up the ar$e.

People have lived in this street for 40-50 years and never have the experienced such things, one family is completely destroying what was a fairly respectable neighbourhood

No Paul, TripleS - as he sometimes known - is not a BiB, nor is he particularly conversant with BiB procedures, and therefore he's not well placed to know how best to 'fix' the problem.

It is simply that I would like some system that more effectively cracks down on the real trouble makers, and I expect most police officers would also like that, but apparently the system puts too many obstacles in the way.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

No....if you put up such a sign, the law deems you know the mutt is dangerous.

Then, if said narky mutt damages a scrote, you're in deep trouble......

hmm, as a dog owner I'd not recomend this. You'd undoubtedly get attatched to the dog (even if the idea was for the dog to attatch itself to the scrote...)

Then they'd see it as a challenge and either chuck stones at, or poison the poor mutt!

bloody disgrace though their behaviour... you have my sympathies? is it my imagination or does nobody in the 'real world' support the pro-scote legislation??

You are required to leave a safe path to your front door. It's probably OK if the dog is a psycho and kept under "control" protecting the back door and garden but at the front you could be in deep do-do.

Sorry to hear you are having problems.
Have you got any kind of speaking terms with the parents? Are they aware of their kids behaviour?
