Yeah unless I have ordered an Uber Eats and expecting I dont answer the door. No one I know is visiting me unannounced. I really dislike charity doorstep muggers, I will donate to the charities I want to in my own time.
What annoys me about charity doorstep muggers is your donation isn’t going to the good cause. I stopped donating to charity when it turned into a for profit business that’s paying them a salary. Some charity owners are paying themselves £100,000 a year plus pension and benefits out of our donations.

Yeah agree. We have started giving more to small local community charities where I'm more certain more of the money is getting to the people who need it.

My wife called Battersea Dogs home about this character.

BDH confirmed they had outsourced doorstep workers, but also conformed he was out of order trying to get a sneaky DD in place. ApparentlyBDH have a script that they are meant to adhere to and obviously was veering off it massively.

So I guess it was good and bad news rather than an out and out scammer. Still poor though.

I have just fitted a Ring doorbell so now I'm poor as well...

I still think it was more scoping out your house than genuine. If he was genuine then he’d of gone to your neighbours etc. I’d be careful for the next few days or so.

We have a 5 barred gate at thetop of the drive, 1 wide gate + 1 small gate. It gets locked with a chunky padlock and a bike security cable around the gates each night.

If they are outsourcing workers then I doubt there are many checks in to who is doing this. If you are a scallywag its probably a good gig to get as you can go around legitimately scoping out houses and if any challenges you well you have ID and a branded hi-viz to prove what you are doing.

Are dog nappers still a thing or are the days of being able to drive a white van suspiciously around the local villages just to get into their local Facebook pages now over ?

I have a good opinion of people from Liverpool.
Ever since I parked my car there in 2003 while visiting the Catholic cathedral, and the wheels were still on it when I returned two hours later.

Is it a charity or is it a profit making business?

A profit making business that’s exploiting naive donors generosity.

Well it does seem like the only thing uncharitable about charities is the people who work for them. They certainly don't practice what they preach.

We had a new one the other week, MRS400 and i collect Nectar points and use them all at christmas etc.

She went on to check her balance one night after the weekend to find it at zero...

We re in Derbyshire and someone had spent the £45 we had on the card in Hammersmith.

Spoke to Nectar etc they ve sent new cards and replaced the points and given up 2000 extra for our troubles.

No idea how they ve done it as we ve never been to London, closest we get is Sawbridgeworth to her mothers.
Has this happen, used at Argos in Beckton (London).

Yesterday was out dog walking in MK and there was a group of people, men and women in Anglian Water fleeces eith lanyards and IDs. I said to my wife wonder what they are doing as the meters were read couple of months back and they only do it once a year.

Now the local FB group is warning people of these dodgy blokes and people posting Ring camera pictures of them. Apparently Anglian water have confirmed there is no one in the area and they have reported it to the police.

I can normally spot a wrongun but these people looked pretty legit. My neighbour commented that they knocked on their door but they didn't knock on ours. Unless it was when I was out. Or having a cheeky afternoon nap - a WFH benefit.

Anglian Water couldn't find their arse with both hands and a map, how can they know what everyone in the business is up to?
