Never knew NI wasn't in Great Britain.

Since Ireland part of the British Isles I thought it was in the bag.

I specifically bought wee EU plate things to irritate a Farage-loving relative.
There are many parts of England, Scotland and Wales which also aren't in Great Britain.

Have a UK sticker on my everyday car, last year went to France and was asked by someone if I was from Ukraine!
Have a chrome GB on my classic as it looks more in keeping with its age. Never had a problem with it on our annual trip to Le Mans. As has been said, many cars display nothing without issues.

Er, there are?

If that was true would we not need to have The United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and many parts of England, Scotland and Wales on our passports?

It's written on the front of your passport.

The only thing I've done with my blue passport so far is gob on it. I haven't read it.

Great Britain is the big island (geographically, as opposed to politically).

We're off next week so I need to get one.

When based overseas and regularly travelling between Germany and England I never bothered TBH and was never picked up. I'd imagine even the most officious cop has better things to do than pretend they don't know where you've come from.

Maybe if you did get pulled for something else and then failed the attitude test it would be a different matter.

It's not a recent change.

Just curious about whose regulations require the UK sticker? It must be under EU law as that's what applies over the water.
It's the Geneva convention.
It most certainly is not.

It's the Geneva Protocol.
Whatever it is it sounds dreadfully Europeeun and is therefore an infringement of our National Sovrintee. We must Leave immediately. Leave means Leave. I demand we have a picture of His Majesty King Charles III (grovel grovel) instead of a UK badge. That'll show the garlic munching swine who's boss on my way down to Benidorm for my fish and chips, 47 pints of Carling and a fight with some Germans.

I know you're taking the piss, but if you want to drive in Europe you have to abide by Europe's rules. If you really want to leave the EU then you can stay in England except when you go on holiday to Florida.

Those 2 places aren't in the UK either, however the many miriad of islands like the Isle of Wight, Anglesey, Lewis, etc are all in the uk, but not on Great Britain.

We must leave the Jeneever Protoctology. OUT OUT OUT!!!! Leave means Leave. Our Brittanic Majesty requests we be allowed to pass, it says so in my blue passport, step aside sheep burning rabble, coming through.

Didn't read the previous ones either. Since it's quite important when you think about it maybe I should.

I do enjoy looking at the visas of passports better travelled than me. There are some truly artistic ones.

The Ordnance Survey would disagree with you on that.

I love the "5000 or so islands" bit. Fascinates me that there isn't a known total of islands in the British Isles. Surely we must be able to count them these days?

I think the trick is how you define what is and isn't an island rather than counting per se. Is a rock sticking out of the sea an island? What about somewhere cut off by the sea only at high tide? And whatever definition you end up with, some islands will change status as rocks erode or sandbanks move.

“British Islands” is what includes Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man; British Isles is the geographic term for the whole lot including all of Ireland, the Hebrides etc.

Amazing how a tiny little inoffensive sticker on a number plate can cause so many knickers to become twisted.
