The Ordnance Survey would disagree with you on that.

So why are GBA, GBG, GBJ, GBM and GBZ plates still valid, even though none of them are in GB ?https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/blog/whats-the-di...
Jersey, Guernsey and IoM aren't even part of the UK, and I'm fairly sure nobody's arguing that Gibraltar is part of Great Britain.
I doubt if any of the enforcement agencies either know or care about the difference.
I drive in Europe fairly regular and have no identifier and never been stopped.
Although, perhaps some countries are a bit more strict.
A friend was stopped in Austria recently, as part of a routine check, and it was picked up that he had no national ID on the car.
He just took a magnetic GB out of the glove box and they were happy.
Must say, Ive always hated the big GB plates and think the, even bigger, naff UK plates look worse - almost like boasting that we’ve left the EU.

I just do what the regulations require:
Previously displayed GB badge when driving out of UK.
Now display UK badge when driving out of the UK.
Why not simply adapt as the situation dictates and get on with enjoying your trip, safe in the knowledge that you're complying with the regulations?
and While at it get a Crit Air sticker for a couple of Euros then no issues driving through cities in France Previously displayed GB badge when driving out of UK.

I regularly drive on the continent with my EU GB plates and no UK additions and I've been stopped once or twice at the border for customs checks. No mention of my lack of UK sticker. In Europe you tend to see much more of a police presence on the roads than you do in the UK (can't remember the last time I saw a police car on the road in the UK outside of Staines, my most local dodgy area) and have had a few friendly interactions with various Gendarmes, Police National, Politie, Polizei, Carabinieri, Guardia Civil, Policía Nacional, Policía Local, Guarda Nacional Republicana or Polícia de Segurança Pública but still nobody has complained about the lack of a UK sticker. They know what UK plates look like and they only need to see that you're in an RHD car and they know where you're from!
Having said that, I was once pulled over in Italy (years before Brexit) because my left seat passenger was on the phone. They hadn't realised that the car was RHD. Same thing happened last year in Portugal. At least we think it was that because they waved us off as soon as they got close enough to see into the car.
