I know they are all only accused .... but if there is any element of truth in all that I am glad those Police Officers did what they did to safeguard themselves and the public from people like that

I agree but unfortunately this will change nothing in their minds of people who will always believe a young black man was executed by the police for no reason. They will keep saying all black people are victim's automatically

During the hearing, Judge Simon Mayo KC confirmed that a plea hearing would take place on May 2

Well, that’s a bit of a change from the radio…

The problem, as it has always been and always will be, is that the noisiest people in any community end up regarded as speaking FOR that community.

The greatest contribution of racial comedians (not racist comedians... There's a big difference) was that it helped everyone understand the common ground in the views and opinions between people from different communities was much greater than the differences. At the end of the day most people hate a dhead regardless of whether he is lumped into a demographic with you.

Car clubs are a great analogue for being part of a demographic; you go to one and get talking to people and realise you have nothing in common with anyone else there apart from the fact you like the same cars. You certainly wouldn't regard yourself as being brothers from different mothers. But some cretin gets over excited, does a big burnout, foot slips off the brake and he runs someone over. Then some idiots start getting shirty with the police just for showing up and doing their job. All the while you have been sat quietly minding your own business like most other people there, the police have had no interest in you because you aren't being a knob. Being part of a car club isn't what caused the cretin to be arrested, being a knob is what caused the cretin to be arrested, and the morons who leapt to his defence to be threatened with arrest.

Ridiculous
All firearms officers should strike
Why do a job that you get hung out to dry for for doing your job.
Spineless
This is to keep the family and black community happy
No way this met the threshold for the cps to charge with anything, let alone murder

Very surprised. Even his family backed off when they we're shown the video evidence.

These is no way I would be a firearms officer. You get a few seconds to make a decision when people's lives are in danger, and that decision can end your career and your freedom.

So yesterday, I am sure I heard a report that "the MET was institutionally racist, homophobic, etc" and today we get this.
The timing sucks.
The family saw the video and have been silent ever since.

I am sure that many people have worked very hard in coming to the correct conclusion. I just hope that their conclusion was not " we need a sacrificial lamb"

I would say 'let the courts decide' which I'm sure they will but if the officer is found not guilty there will be an appeal because family, supporters, community leaders, race baiting grifters like Lee Jasper won't agree with the verdict. Then the officer has to get chewed up by the system over and over again, rinse and repeat.

I can't even to begin to feel how NX121 is feeling, waiting for someone to tell them how they should have been feeling, how fearful he should have been and challenging why they made a split second decision all from the comfort of a barristers office months later.

Maybe asked to back off by their legal reps as it would prejudice the likely outcome of the investigation - they saw what happened on the video - none of us have

Clearly there are questions over what happened, otherwise why have they charged him/her?

Are you saying firearms officers should act with impunity?

Could you also enlighten us on how you know this case didn't meet the threshold for charging?

Police officers are forbidden to strike by law. Firearms officers can however decline to carry firearms.

How do you know this didn’t meet the threshold? Care to elaborate?

There has to be 'new and compelling evidence' to appeal a not-guilty verdict.
How likely would that be? How often does it happen?

You'd hope nobody would be charged with murder for a split-second misjudgement.

Call me out for being cynical but a young black man being shot by the police, in the current climate could be all it takes.

I can't help but think that's probably why it's got to the point it has.

No case to answer and risk riots and another merry-go-round or just bat it to the courts to drag it out a bit further. All whilst a police officer is stting themselves that they're potentially going to be off to jail.
