The police said she's received more death threats than any other witness in their history.

Which says plenty of the calibre of the people.
Talk is cheap. Those who will do it, dont talk about it.

I find these type of reports odd, when they refer to the perpetrator as having an 'Extended family'.

Dont a lot of people have 'Extended families'?

I wonder if its a euphemism for 'Is part of a notorious crime family'

Having become pivotal to Cashman's conviction, she is said to have faced more threats than any witness Merseyside Police have ever dealt with.

She has since been granted a lifetime of anonymity under the witness protection scheme and is believed to have been moved out of Liverpool.

From the Mail.
Shows how many scumbags are out there willing to defend child killers. Absolutely sickening individuals. frown
Seriously brave woman, fair play to her.

BBC news are saying he has refused to attend court for his sentencing, such a hardman, he can't face the family and what is going to be happening to him, such a coward!!

Appearing in the daily mail makes me cynical as to how true that article is anyway but...

Just imagine the amount of distrust and confusion that even the threat of a insider grassing would have on organised criminals and if you were looking and a very long stretch only to hear there was a contract on your head then maybe you'd grass out of spite...

Does make me wonder if there's a little bit of st stirring going on scratchchin

He can and should be sentenced in his absence. Thirty years will fairly soften his cough.

I have never understood why this is allowed.

Unless you are medically unfit to attend you should be dragged kicking and screaming if necessary into the dock for the sentence.

76 years old at the earliest possible release date. In all respects that is a whole like sentence.

Why? Murder carries an automatic life sentence so there's nothing to hear. The reality of how long these people are kept in jail often depends on how much fuss the tabloid newspapers make when they eventually become eligible for parole. Otherwise known as the court of public opinion - although a parole board would, of course, never allow that to sway their decision. This bloke knows that he will forever be "the Liverpool child-killer" so may well be doomed to the same fate as Myra Hindley - who was never released.

Good. Deserves every minute of it.
Hopefully dies before then.

On the other hand, that's probably the easier way out...
