Really like these ( particularly the colours of the 2017 model and white framed model ) but not yet ridden one. Anyone here own one ?

I haven't, but I hear only good things about them. If I could be bothered to get my finger out, I'd consider swapping my T7 for one.

Like the KTM 690 Enduro, it's a very good compromise bike, my mate has one.

Great at off road, but heavy on singletrack.

OK on road, not great at long distances.

But a good all-round hoon on lanes and trails. Like a CRF300L on steroids.

Long distance and then off road is what im interested in.

I have the LR which is going on it's first long journey in June to the Alps. It is, of course a bit heavier but I have ovr 300mls of range. I have the 'Renazco' seat which is better but not for me so I use an 'Airhawk' with the stock seat and it seems to work fine.

You'll also find that the 'Easyshift' Husqvarna's version of a 'Quickshifter' is VERY adictive and turns you into a hooligan!

I had one for a while and it was awesome, really fun to ride. The only reason I don't have it anymore is that I part-exed it for a FE350 cos the 701 is too tall for me off road, I wasn't able to dab a foot here or there when I needed to. Still look at them (690, 700 and 701) as a great travel bike and if I grow up and/or they reduce the seat height I would definitely be looking at one again.
Also yes I know there are lowering kits etc but I was not convinced that wouldn't somehow affect the handling etc of it.

Looks great ! Love the screen etc, is the LR a factory edition ?

I've got the 690 Enduro (basically the same - a bit worse but a lot cheaper)

Surprisingly close to an enduro bike on green lanes (rather than a full on enduro course) significantly better than a 250 enduro on the road although my 450 is pretty good on road for a day trip

I hate screens on any bike - to be big enough to make a difference they all generate too much noise / turbulence IME

The biggest compromise is tyres and mousses - which really limit road use. I CBA with puncture repairs although I ought to try some of the other options

690s aren't much worse than a Tenere on the road but they don't compare to a big adventure bike - you know you've covered the miles, ride to Wales and tootle about for a week fair enough, not sure I'd want to ride to / through Europe on one

The proper enduro bike has a lower seat height than the 701? Who knew!

I know a few people with CrF250L who have fitted michelin trackers.
Fit one of those to the 701/690 and the rear is shredded in 2k.

It is such a great dual use bike but the tyre is always the compromise. Its never got the right tyre on.

I did consider getting a set of supermoto wheels for mine to make it two bikes for one.

Il probably sell it to be honest, get a proper enduro since I've got a van I don't really need the dual sport element.



I follow a few people on YouTube who own 690/701 and go all over on them but they tend to have decent offroad tracks in their back yard. Something we don't have over here in the UK really

I had a 2017 KTM690 Enduro. I think it's much the same bike, although the engine has been tinkered with a little since.
It always made me giggle riding a dirt bike on the motorway for some reason!
Anyway, it was too much of a compromise: front brake totally inadequate for the road & bike generally too heavy for proper off road use.
Could make a great adventure bike, but remember that the fuel filler is at the back - just where you want to strap all your luggage. Can be a total pain at the pumps....
