You paid for a ticket that entitled you to a service. You then threw it away.
As I have pointed out to thameslink I have a photo that I could photoshop to be defaced. So I find your logic lacking
Your logic is that you can photoshop a ticket which would entitle you to a refund?

I used to work in a shop that sold TVs. If a customer came in and said “I want a refund for this TV that I have a picture of but have thrown the TV away”. I wouldn’t be giving them the refund.

It genuinely amazes me how you can’t see how utterly ridiculous you are making yourself look.

You are not going to believe this. I am in the exact same situation. I have to admit when I bought the ticket I was a little surprised at the cost but still threw it away. Luckily, even though I thought the ticket had no value, I took a picture.

When you call up to get your refund can you get mine?

Every refund I have ever requested as a commuter, they have asked for the ticket.

They are quite open about the need and anyone you asked, would have told you that.

No that’s not my logic

Simply saying there t and c make no sense

Addendum to all this, this return the ticket thing is on page 20, subsections 30.1 of their rules. Is that clear and obvious?

There was literally no staff there at all to ask them anything.

Not quite sure why you are saying this.

How clear or obvious their policy is does not change the fact that you seem to keep losing sight of.

A ticket that hasn't been fully used but is still valid can still be used.

That being the case surely you must have thought that you would need to keep it to prove it hadn't been/wouldn't be used to qualify for a refund?

The rules make perfect sense in that you could simply take a photo of the ticket, give it to someone else to use and ask for a refund.

And to answer your question no you can’t have a refund on this ticket as it no longer exists.

Consumer rights act. T and C must not be hidden. That’s why

Yes, but as I believe I have stated once or twice already, I COULD have used it a day later and then applied for the refund.. that’s why their t and c make no sense. Literally none.

If their system is so easy to abuse, that’s on them, not me.

You asked if you could get a refund on an invisible ticket and the answer is no.

Not sure what this easy to abuse the system is all about but you could always have a go and let us know how you get on. After all you have the moral high ground to defend.

If it’s invisible how did I take a picture of it? Riddle me that..

But they clearly aren't hidden as you found the relevant section.

So your logic actually agrees with the above TV scenario and your only gripe is with the T&C's now?

As you are obviously struggling to get the refund you believe you are entitled to, I would suggest you have very successfully proved that their system is NOT easy to abuse!

And as you say THAT is clearly the actual issue here.

Wow. You can't produce the ticket and thus prove you haven't used it, but you want a refund?

So let’s say I do have the ticket and return it to them now.. how do they know I haven’t used it in the meantime? That’s why their t and c’s are nonsense and probably illegal

  • and if they could check any of those numbers on the ticket to see I haven’t used it, then they can do it off the photo
Make sense?

It’s a gamble on their part. There’s a good chance that the ticket will be punched by a conductor to prevent you using it again or swallowed at the barrier once you complete your journey. Obviously having a photo that you could have taken on the day you picked up the ticket doesn’t proved you haven’t used the ticket.
