Might be time for people to not use their mobile when in charge of a vehicle?

That’s about the size of it.

I love how a car driver could murder someone but as soon as a cyclist is nearby it's apparently all the cyclists fault.

I'd rather all the morons who use their phones at the wheel are taken off the road. I'm sick of having to wait twice as long at traffic lights because it takes everyone in front of me several seconds to look up from their screens and realise the light has gone green.

I have no problem with cyclists 'grassing' up road users on their phones, every one knows they shouldn't use their phones at the wheels but somehow it's the cyclists fault if they're caught?

Yeah but remember they’re ‘snowflake plastic lycra lout wannabe's’ so it’s fine to use your phone at the wheel.

I’m glad he’s getting done.
All these cyclists thinking they’re the police and grassing up motorists for anything they do wrong.
I suppose it’s because all cyclists never break any motoring laws do they! None ever go through red lights, undertake, etc etc.
I don’t think there’s many motorists who never break a law whilst driving and we have enough cameras etc watching what we do never mind having dic#k head cyclists thinking they are so high and mighty and taking videos of motorists.
Obviously not all cyclists are d heads but some are. Need to mind their own business unless it directly concerns them. In reality yes driving whilst using a phone may distract and be dangerous sometimes, but sitting at lights may be annoying if you don’t move when you should but it’s certainly not dangerous.

Seems a bit fishy.

Is the video available to watch and see what actually goes on? Couldn't see it in the Standard link.

Maybe because I've never driven in London, but I've never experienced cyclists like that but see countless cars everyday performing dangerous overtakes, blasting through red lights.

I've never cycled on the road and never intend to as there are way too many fkwit drivers around and I don't want to become a statistic. I'll stick with my mountain bike well away from any vehicles. The whole cyclist thing is blown way out of proportion. There must be what? 1 cyclist on the road at any one time for every 1000 vehicles? They are just an easy target because they are slow in comparison for a car.

Don't forget the necessity for ved, insurance, number plates and lights for bicycles. And bells.

What exactly in the article justifies the phrasing used?

Or for the same reason a burglar you catch after he has left your house and beat the crap out of is let off and you get fined for GBH.

In the process of finding out how this exact scenario plays out. I'd do it again, whatever the outcome.

There was a woman, behind me the other day who was clearly looking down at her phone when the car in front of me decided to stop as the lights changed to Amber. Its Liverpool so the lane next to us continued until it had been red for 5 seconds. I braced ready to be rear ended, but she stopped in time. Just.
Then spent the next few minutes looking down at her phone.
When the lights changed to green, I started moving very slowly, and she had the temerity to blast her horn at me.

It’s not the RR, it’s not the bike… it’s the people driving/riding.

I am a cyclist too and decided to stop riding on the roads in the outskirts of London, it’s not worth the aggro. On the other hand I experience very aggressive cyclist whilst driving my car in London.

Not all drivers are bad, not all cyclists are like this one but some as bad as each other.

On a single country lane it can be frustrating for a car driver when the “peloton” doesn’t facilitate the overtake by riding single file for a short while. I think if the “peloton” encountered, say a slow moving lorry that was slower than them reaching for those KOMs they would also not like it.

It’s all about being respectful to all road users.
