Was my driving technically correct?

I like the OP occassionally decide that the cars in the distance coming towards me are going over the posted limit, and as I've reached the parked cars, and they have enough time to safely reduce their speed, I continue to overtake the parked cars.
Often they wave with a middle finger. Okay. Thanks. I just wave back with a normal wave. Or shrug.

Indeed. Its hilarious. You should try it. Occassionally you get one that trys to squeeze past. I put my hands over my eyes and scream..
Works for me. The only crashes I ever had were eyes open.

I've read the OP. Some of the replies. Not ploughing through all of them.
This is one where there are inevitably going to be nuances and subtleties which can't be described in a post. Headline is that you probably should have held and waited. However if there's a gap halfway down which you think you can make at minimal inconvenience to the other party then that's not outrageous.
If there's only room for one car to come past a line of parked cars then the appropriate speed is probably even less than. 25mph tbh.

Allegedly speeding vehicle. Have to remember that without a radar gun or being in the other vehicle in question then the speed at which they are travelling is an unknown. As always, defensive driving is a better place to be than "correct driving".
Correct driving involves a mix of ‘defensive’ and ‘assertive’ driving. The ‘assertive’ bit is where you want to be completely clear what you are doing, and take the lead when others may be dithering, indecisive, or unsure. Defensive driving may involve some degree of submissiveness, when ‘discretion is the better part of valour’.Pica-Pica said:

This is all true. Generally you want to try and avoid anyone having to make massive changes - a little but nudge theory, if you like. Encouraging someone to move over slightly or slow down slightly by taking a subtle action such as position is fine - they may not even realise you've done it on purpose; making someone slam on their brakes isn't.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
