I've seen on some American shows that they have a sticky GPS tracking dart which they can fire onto the car being chased and then drop back and follow at their leisure.

Seems like a good idea to me!
Plod would find the car, but the miscreants would get a good lead and have more time to bail out and leg it... or perhaps remove the dart and carry on.

He'd probably fall off the roof, again.

They need to use Hellfire R9X missiles. No collateral damage, tried and tested on various terrorists.

The rocket powered grapnel thing was actually tried by the Finnish police iirc, more like a rocket powered whale harpoon. Not a success, ended up as a high speed tow at the end of a long cable.

Now could go for a couple of concealed .50 cal GPMGs. Very good Cmdr Bond.

Twin 50s, yes that would be about right. Good stopping power and minimal collateral damage. Unless they miss of course, and then it's curtains for Mrs Miggins again.

Quite Pythonesque really - Mrs Miggins played by Eric Idle.

Would be fun to watch.
Trouble is, U.K. police don’t have access to suitable cars.
