Expenses for the Somerset partnership for 2004/2005.

How can they spend nearly one million on camera equipment? I believe they have six mobile teams.

Also, anyone know what police support staff do? They're expensive at nearly 1.2 million.

Note that "traffic surveys", arguably much more important than enforcement action comes in at the very bottom of their expenditure.
The reason its important is to find out the real reasons for accidents, such as are the vehicles really travelling too fast in this location and yet its the least spent on activity!!!!

Nice to see that "administration" and "accomodation" all feature highly in their spending.
Also means that "administration" is just a covering name for putting some of the stolen monies in their back pockets while "accomodation" probably means paying for a comfy prostitute or ten.

Traffic Surveys - £25k
Publicity - £326k

Somewhat misguided is it not. How much research can be done, and how well for £25k?

And does it really cost £38600 to "maintain" 6 Ford Galaxy's for a year?

Do you really think it costs 20,000 for a toilet seat? or 15,000 for a hammer?

4.3m out and 4.3 mil in with only 5 quid being the difference and that's a loss to the scam partnership!

Net result:
82k nips to digruntled MoP and everyones happy (in the pratnership). Saved lives, I very much doubt any. What a complete waste of time, money and police resources.

See how they can soak up much of their ill-gotten gains with numerous forms of expense, including salaries. It's not for the money or job creation of course. Oh no.

Considering how little they spend ACTUALLY doing their job effectively, and how much is clearly wasted, then if even half the people honestly did obey speed limits, then they would quickly be out of business. What incentive to operate if there are no perks and purely hard slog just to break even?

Makes you wonder, with more people with GPS, more people sharing scamera locations, more people with points treading carefully.

Can't go on forever blowing that much money I don't think.

You've jumbled up the numbers - they made a profit of over £600,000.

Yup, and now Gordon Brown wants in on that profit.

It's pure comedy really. Cowboy outfits on a moral but flawed crusade, protected by law. Could only mean a stealth tax racket!

i HATE how they call them camera partnerships - as though they are trying to a portray a nice, friendly, kitten loving image. camera vampires more like
