Did an interview on BBC Radio 4 You and Yours yesterday.

If anyone's having problems sleeping and wants to listen, go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/progs/listenagain.shtml#y and click on You and Yours. The interview is between 8:45 and 18:09 in the programme. It is about community pace cars - a topic which has already been discussed on PH.

I followed a pre-recorded interview with a Pace Car driver (who is now a road safety campaigner and a member of RoadPeace) who had lost his son in a cycle/car accident. His son - Carl - was cycling when he was hit by a driver travelling at 46mph in a 30 limit. I've not been able to find out any more about the crash.

I made the point that driving is a hugely complex activity, and that safe driving depends on rather more than observing a speed limit. I explained that councils lowering limits is leading to a complete lack of respect for limits. I was up against a Road Safety Officer from Cheshire, Justine Hart. The key point I tried to get across is the difference between a safe speed and a legal speed - the two are moving ever further apart.

Fairly aggressive interviewing (as I expected), but I hope it was a useful bit of exposure for road safety. Been in since 6am trying to make up the time - the joys of self-employment, eh?
