Just checking that you're joking about the wife bit. Last person who bragged about giving his wife points on an internet forum is doing 6 months for PCJ. It's a bad idea.

On mitigation, you can expect none for the reasons you've laid out. Nighttime might count against you as an aggravating factor but unlikely. With early plea discount and no real reason to go to court, I think the assessment of 60 + 35 + 3pts is about right. Unless the mags decide that you are wasting their time, in which case might go for fine based on your income. One weeks disposable.

Sadly, thousands of motorists (and bikers) every year are getting caught while driving safely. Safety has nothing to do with it. However, good luck - question everything.

Well yes! but if said driver didnt notice the speed limit on the road he was on, didnt notice he was exceeding it, is this not a case of driving without due care and attention. Or is is a case of "Yes I know its 30, but that doesnt apply to me, so sod it".

I am not saying drivers do not consider themselves driving safely, we never say to ourselves, "Whoops driving unsafe again", but surely part and parcel of driving safely is to be observant of all road signs, and other traffic etc? after all it could a tad embarrising to not notice the road works signs, and zip round the next bend straight into a bloody big hole in the road.

We all know these cameras are around, we all know if we get zapped, we pay up, so why not just pay more attention to detail when driving.

Driving into Aberdeen on the A90, approaching the Dee Bridge, the NSL drops from 70 to 40, a few hundred yards past the 40 sign, is a fixed camera, the vast majority of cars only anchor up as they approach the camera, and anchor up fast, as they are probably still up in the 60's, this is just taking the piss really. We all agree cameras are a money making scheme, but I have to say it does reduce the speed of traffic in a lot of urban areas where it is needed, ie lots of pedestrians etc.

P.S. lets not forget what 911 said:-

20 years driving in Porsches and other sports cars, I have 'occasionally' been known to go "a little" over the limit. Have been amazingly lucky! This time I was just unlucky and well over-due!!.....(and a bit careless not noticing the new second camera- I reckon this one will make them a mintload of cash!)

I think 40 in a 30 zone is more than "a little over", and by his own admission he has been amazingly lucky in the past. And well over due!

I have no wish to see anybody get fined and points, but ignore those signs, and you pay the penalties unfortnately, fact of life. I am not being critical of 911, with 20 years experience of driving fast cars, he has obvioulsy better driving skills then some of these kids we see in their little sooped up what ever they are, having driven for about 6 months, Anyway these are just my toughts on the matter. Enjoy the bank holiday everyone, and drive safely.

In this climate - no chance

Whatever you decide to do, make sure that you purchase some "road safety" equipment and with an expensive car like that Id make sure that your garage opened automatically so you werent exposing yourself to an unessecary risk of having your expensive car jacked
