Lets hope more people fill in the questionnaire at www.safecam.org.uk One thing to remember though is how results are analysed.

Obvious thing to do in question 1. is answer that you strongly agree that cameras are primarily to raise money ('cause it's true).

Now then, what will happen is that anyone who answers in this way will be lumped together in the analysis as biased against cameras to start with.

Best thing to do in question 1. is thus to answer "Neither agree or disagree" or "disagree" so that the rest of the answers are lumped into the results that will actually get analysed.

To clear up confusion among some of you, the Taxcam website you've visited is for Avon and Somerset.

Most, if not all, Scamera Partnership areas have their own sites, all spouting similar rubbish.

Many have email addresses, but they fail to answer tricky questions.

I complained to one and demanded the removal of a lie. They obliged.

The problem statement said you get done if you don't identify the driver. There IS a valid defence in the Act, so they shouldn't have said that. I suggested they were perverting the course of justice by suppressing this info, and the Chief Constable might not be too happy to be accused of same.

That appeared to do the trick.

"According to an Aussie colleague in my office, back home, one of the things used to justify the cameras goes something along the lines of:
* speeding causes accidents
* accidents leave people in hospital
* hospital care is expensive
* so we'll raise the money for your health care by using cameras"

Utter bullhsit, TJ.

NHS costs are recovered from our motor insurance companies now.

This is one reason for recent premium increases.

Now our worthy rulers want to claim the "costs" of firefighters attending accidents.........here comes another premium hike.

Gordon's motto is "If it moves, tax it. If it doesn't, gi'us a minute, I'll find a way........."

So, I think it's worthwhile filling some more in. What is likely to happen is that results in one area will get quoted/mis-quoted by other areas as justification if the results concur with Scamera "official" thinking.

OK it's a bit of a futile exercise if only a handful of people fill them in with "Pistonheads" answers (and maybe if loads do) but, hey, it's worth a try.
