Going down to VW on the M5 on Sunday a Police was car on an M5 flyover by Cheltenham with its lights on and passenger window open, only a driver in the car though, I was over the legal speed limit, I thought he was coming after me but he turned the car around so he could see me continue down the M5, as there was no access onto the M5 from where he was.

What are the chances of being nicked through the passenger window, and through the motorway flyover railings, and down onto the motorway ?

Also do they need to stop you now? And can they get you from helicopters as well, as on my return I had a police helicopter flying next to the motorway and I was again driving over the national speed limit, can they clock you now from these too? It's probably me being paranoid but the girlfriend said it will teach me NOT to speed, typical!

They can't operate any speed measuring equipment through glass -especially laser. So unless the window was down then you will be fine.
As for helicopters they can measure your ground speed using Vascar. Was there any white blocks of paint on the road and a certain distance apart - I think usually 1 or 2 miles, not entirely sure. If so they could have. OOPS.

Do not remember marks on the motorway was going too fast to look for those.
But the incident with the police car, his passenger window was open! What can they get you with from where they were sat on the flyover and would it be photographic ? Serves me right for speeding I suppose. Thanks.

I think - I'm not sure maybe one of the in attendance on this site can confirm that they will need to back up there evidence of you speeding with a photograph/video of you doing so. Otherwise they would have to stop you at the side of the road.
