Thankyou, Please please please when moaning about Scameras do not link them to the REAL police that work bloody hard trying to undo all the damage done by those little yellow Government boxes.

Moan about the Scamera partnership all you like, just don't use the word Police in the same sentance !!!!
If the above is true, why does the Chief Constables name appear on the NIP?
Which bit do you think is not true?

At about 06h00 this morning they and their scamera wise guys managed to catch the most heinous of criminals. A criminal so bad it, the crime warrants an immediate double punishment followed by years of punitive punishment via insurance companies etc !!!!! I was one of 2 cars on the road, 40 zone changing to dual carriageway noational speed limit road when off went the flash. I was not even doing 50 indicated as I was accelerating towards the dual carriage way. Why oh why do the plods insist on scameras, surely it makes more sense to have plods out patrolling, however at thattime in the morning they are more than likely tucked up nicely in bed dreaming of their next Xmas bonus sponsored by UK drivers.
Here we go again... SCP not police. different part of the system. Its also a speed camera so fixed site. So that means its always there.

We are on duty 24 hours a day and unlike you get no bonuses at christmas, the fines from cameras go back to cameras and the govenrment.

Personaly if you miss a yellow speed camera then your not paying attention. What else could you have missed?
As for bonuses I do not get them, a small point but had to be made. As for on duty 24hrs a day, that may be the case, but the funny thing is in the last month of using the following roads daily M23, M25,M3,A23,A27,M27,M271 I have not seen a single patrol vehicle on the roads, so maybe instead of bed, it is sitting in the station filling out forms. I do not have an issue with trying to ensure the safety of road users, but untill such time as I see ALL road users from pedestrians upwards being treated the same I will remain an avid anti scamera lobbyist. If as you say the scamera units are not part of the forces in the UK, howcome when I have had occasion to call scamera offices I ineviatbly ebd up speaking to a PC or WPC ? As for not paying attention I was fully aware of what was going on around me, however I believe that in the interests of road saftey spending the entire time behind the wheel looking at my speedo and in the air above the pavement actually makes me an unsafe driver, but hey speeding is such a mega crime that is exactly what is being advocated we all do.
they have go over to unmarked

they got me weeping

Read the post I said REAL POLICE !!!
Aw c'mon - you're not telling us you've never checked a laser out of the garage store?
Yes I took one out of the store this morning. A nice Pro Laser 3. The only Laser to be seen on the street with.

I then went and dealt with a stranded motorist on the A3, checked the pilot Calibration, after that at about 06:30Hrs I arrested a very p1ssed Drink Driver. Throughout the rest of the shift after dealing with above and paperwork I reported several people for no Insurance, Couple of Mobile phones, Gave some stern finger wagging to a guy in an X5 for going a bit fast on the national part of the A3, few seat belts, attended several incidents on the A3 and M4, an urgent call for help in Wimbledon got some breakfast down my neck ( Which I was a bit upset about cos I ticked the wrong box and got double helpings of scrambled egg and not two sausages ) and read the Lambo article in Evo. Plus what my operator did.

I/We did not stand at the side of the road for 24Hrs, flashing everybody who was speeding at 10% +2 with no discretion. We got out there in among the tax payer and showed our presence.
Stop it. Your underminng their points with some actual facts!

I can personally vouch for the fact that at least one member of said plod was working at 0600 this morning, as he did not get home until 07:30.

At 0600 it's hard to miss those yellow boxes, there being little else to look at!

TR - have you in the past ever overtaken a B&Q or Superdrug truck on the section from New Malden to the Ace of Spades and then "held" him at exactly 50mph?

Usual time, 5 minutes before you start (06:00) and a call comes in and the night duty are already half way home !!!

Tipped out to broken down on the A3, sorted that out, pulled back on A3 at Tolworth heading out of town, Mondeo comes flying past then slows using the kerb of the central reservation. Thinks we need to have a chat, ESD goes to almost instant Red.
Ah I see.
Our force day starts at 0700
Don't think I could still do 0600 to be honest.

There is no excuse for living in Sussex and getting busted by a fixed site.

Also if you check regularly, it even tells you where the mobile sites will be.

can recall ever getting close to getting caught on a fixed site in sussex or anywhere else, all so damn obvious normally.
except the one behind the bridge at the end of the huge long straight somewhere down the A30 (i think) in devon or cornwall.

So you didn't see the yellow box then?

If your driving and looking ahead you should be able to see said boxes, Its worth checking pavements people can step off them.

If you drive the road a lot then its even more important to pay attention as many accidents happen on roads your familiar with due to complacency.
Must admit if he drives the route regularly then he should know where the fixed cameras are which make the fact he was caught even worse.

Personally I have always founf the Sussex Camera Partnership to be quite reasonable with their camera locations. In my home town we have a mobile site outside a school and the fixed camera is just after the speed limit turns from 30 to 40, rather than being just before it.

I regularly drive the M23 upto the M25, and although I don't often see marked cars, I regularly see unmarked ones having pulled people over.
He should also have read the "Unmarked Car on M23" topic earlier in the week. No good coming on here bleating after the event....

As we said earlier, Sussex road policing's generally pretty good, it's the road engineering that let's it down.

Did I say it was me? Did I? Eh? Did I?

I meant held at 50 rather than allowing him to open the taps enabling a full 56mph
