Not so long back, there was a rather long thread about an OAP who received a 3mths sentence for taking his sons 3pt FPN.

There was a notion put forward that PCoJ was something that was not taken lightly, and that the custodial sentence was fit and proper.

Meanwhile, back on planet earth, this one seems to have passed quietly by...

Ah, but they're professional footballers, and are therefore above the law.

No.

One word admitting the offence of PCOJ at the first opportunity and thus getting a caution as oppossed to having to be charged with the offence and only going guilty at court when faced with all the evidence.

And the “stars” have expensive lawyers who advise of this at the earliest stage. Money buys knowledge

Jo public have the media their mates in the pub and internet forums to make such decisions. All be it the advice is cheap, but all to often floored. Then end up in court and sadly then in Jail

Sad but Money = Access to knowledge

A guilty plea to a charge of lieing to the court should mean nothing - PCoJ comes along when you've been "found out". This is just another case of money talking...courts see footballers as "more important" than ordinary MoP and bottle the decision to do something about it.

Just to correct for true meaning.

Our justice system isn't about justice, it's a competition between the two sides.

This never got to court. The other case the chap didn't admit the offence until court. It may also be there are other factors at play in the sense of the old mans previous record (he may have one) and the fact that he allowed his son to avoid disqualification. Also the son in the original case didn't I think get a custodial.
Sherringham may also be giving information in realtion to other offences as well.

Money/fame of him is actually more likely to see him prosecuted as the media impact would be better.

I agree.

I think it is easy to jump on the idea that as a rich/famous/footballer or any other aspirational position that they shouldnt get away with it, but as been said, it does seem that he has admitted it at his first opportunity.

If anyone remembers my case from 3 months ago where people had used my identity without my knowledge to accept points, I have heard nothing in the press about this case either. Even worse than this case however, it also involves the theft and trade in stolen driving licences.

I have not even heard from the police or CPS to let me know if the information and hassle I went through to get them this information is even actually going to be used...

So, I dont think this is as clear cut as an us-n-them issue as it seems rather than which case is chased up to a positive conclusion.
