I'm no expert on stats but to my feeble mind figures for changes in
biker deaths without corresponding figures for changes in biker
milage are meaningless.

I'd guess that the hot weather this summer encouraged a lot more
bikers out on a lot more days. Perhaps as much as 18/7 times the
usual milage in which case biker deaths are unchanged.

I'm pleased to note that zero tolerance on speed has coincided with
a doubling of accidents. What would the Talivan Scamera partnerships
make of that if it were the other way round? As it is I bet they draw
no conclusions from it.

My 1.5p's worth.

The number of people who started riding went up significantly in the last 12 months too (no prizes for guessing why - congestion charge, expense of driving these days, etc.)

More inexperienced riders would always result in more accidents

Since when have accidents had anything to do about rider/driver training? It's all about speed! Haven't these people been trained properly by the scamera partnership?

Don't I remember Brunstrom claiming to have personally saved lives earlier this year with his zero tolerance to speeding policy, I wonder if he would care to make comment on the increase in the number of biker deaths as a result of the same policy. I bet he doesn't want to claim responsibility for them.
