Just a general question ....
Road Angel picks up the location of fixed cameras and Specs etc etc but scamera van locations are not part of the database as there are too many.
Will the Road Angel radar detector head still give some warning that a scamera van is tracking the car - and yes I know it only takes a third of a second for a laser gun to get the speed of a vehicle and take a photo - but I would prefer to get some warning/notice of this happening.
Are the handheld laser guns the police use the same as the ones used in the scamera vans?
And finally, I understand unmarked cars need to follow a car for a reasonable distance to track the speed and record this on video. Is any form of laser used at the same time that will set off a detector?

The road angel only works by matching where you are/ are heading with their gatso/specs/blackspot database. So it will not detect ANYTHING. You could have the laser detector option fitted, but it's pretty useless really as by the time it beeps at you, you've got a ticket already 
Road Angel will not help you against patrol cars either because they use VASCAR - this is undetecable - it's as simple (almost) as the policeman starting a stopwatch.

If you have the Laser module connected to your Road Angel it should detect scamera vans and laser units as a MOBILE unit.
I have not experienced this yet, but a recent TV program tested the Road Angel and similar devices, and they were able to detect laser scatter when a vehicle 3 cars in front was zapped with a laser gun. This would give you a MOBILE warning and give you enough time to slow down in theory.
