What about the woman who apparently failed to see 44 tons of wagon right next to her car?
See, this is what gets my goat. Did the woman drive in front of the truck or did the truck change lanes? Because IF it's that she drove in front of the truck, why is she not being charged with undue care? The driver was in Lane 2 of a dual carriageway in a bright orange 45ft Artic and Lane 1 had been closed off entirely for roadworks. He said he saw this woman come down the slip road and before he could do anything she drove into the side of his truck instead of giving way, he st himself and hopefully the woman st herself for not looking.
He gripped the wheel and held on, partly in the central resevation braking whilst trying to keep 10 tonnes of hazardous load under control, there was traffic in Lane 1 due to the roadworks.
To me this sounds like another similar instance of undue care even though the outcome was only slightly different. Had she of been a little quicker and more infront of the truck it could have been the same if not worse. Luckily this driver saw what was going to happen and reacted quickly!

Not sticking up for the woman at all , but i just do not beleive that the trucker could not see hear or feel that she was stuck on the front of his truck like a bonnet mascot
from that statement you seem to be saying that the trucker knew that the car was there but carried on driving anyway. I was a passenger in a truck when a similar thing happened to us.A new driver joined the motorway on our inside and pulled in front of us, but she didn't make it and her rear quarter clipped our front corner. It spun her and she ended up in a similar position as the car in the video. My friend driving braked heavily, this resulted in her flying off towards the hard shoulder, where she crashed into the barrier, rebounded and then smashed into our rear wheel. The impact was quite severe and it actually shifted the rear axle by several inches and rocked the truck to the point where I thought it may tip over.
I'm glad this trucker kept his license.I was getting rather bored of seeing the "how could he not know!" type posts cropping up on various forums.I doubt the driver would have even felt like a brake was sticking etc, either. We can load up one of our 26 ton rigid curtain siders, with items which weigh the equivalent of several cars and even with a 2 ton moffet (forklift) fixed to the rear, its 420 BHP engine will still pull it up hills without slowing down. The car in the clip may aswell have been a dinky toy.It would also be nice if everyone could see this video, it may stop the last second cutting in and braking at roundabouts and motorway exits that cars force apon HGV vehicles constantly.
I know I have mentioned this before, but regarding the lack of vision a trucker will have, I am still left amazed at how many pedestrians choose an HGV to cross in front of in stop start traffic etc.You are often lucky if you can just see the tops of their heads and often you can't see them at all.I wonder if they think a large vehicle offers up some form of security, as they try to cross. The truth is, they are a green light away, from getting a good look at the underneath..

Maybe this?Truck driver would of course be watching the road ahead through his wet screen, with wipers flicking back and forth - and the Clio's lights are not going to be in his field of vision either!
The Clio on the other hand MUST have seen the truck before she tried to slip in front, and got spun around... or DID she???
She stated that she joined the motorway, "while thinking about her day ahead at the Vets where she worked"!
