went to see some friends yesterday in poole dorset with a m8,
didnt get back untill the small hours and as i came off the motorway ended up behind a bmw estate cop car, so i hung back a little as you do and they decided to pull over and then pull out behind and preceeded to pull me over after following for a while, a very polite blond police lady proceded to check i was who i said i was, and let us on our way, after having my car stolen last year it was a pleasure to be stopped for that exact reason. very reassuring

So you did nothing wrong, but they still pulled you over?
Yes, but they didn't know that until they stopped him.And his hanging back would have given them cause for concern......
I'd far rather the police stopped "flash" cars in this way than let some scrote nick them and drive off.......

imagine it was not me in my car, and 1 minute of my time talking to a nice lady at 4 in the morning is hardly going to affect my world now is it ? I have had the same thing happen to me when i was giving a mate a lift home in the early hours.
The officers were very polite and professional. Once they had ascertained that I wasn't drunk or that I had stolen the car, they let me on my way
I was quite happy with the whole situation, I have been stopped before and only once have I felt I was treated a bit unfairly.
To be honest I recon that it had more to do with failing the attitude test but in all fairness judging by the way the officer was talking to me from the start I would have never passed it anyway.

This reminds me of the time I was driving home after doing some work on the TVR along at the farm where I rent a shed. I was waiting to turn right out of a side road, and a police car was turning right into my road, from my left. Except he didn't, he stopped right across the front of me and asked me why I was wearing rubber gloves while driving. A bloody good question when you think about it.
I had forgotten to take hand cleaner but didn't realise that until I had finished putting all these oily bits back together - so I had put the gloves on so that I wouldn't spread grease from my hands all over the inside of the car while I was driving home.
I still don't know how he spotted that while driving from my left and looking for a gap in traffic etc, but he did and I was dead impressed.

What right has a police officer got to ask you about gloves. How dare he invade your privacy. As for looking at you. That's outrageous. Blocking your way. That's like almost an arrest. POLICE STATE!!!!
