Car tax 3 months out of date.
Discussion
Just remembered that I should probably check to see when my car tax runs out of date and only just realised it expired 30th of november!
I forgot to change the address of my car so hadn't got any reminders or anything :/
How much st am I in? Can I just back pay the car tax?

Get this thread deleted then forge a tax disc: if they've not noticed now they never will.I forgot to change the address of my car so hadn't got any reminders or anything :/

You'll get away with a month 'gap', no problem. After two months, it depends how efficient they're being, but you're in 'fine' territory, three full months, you have some explaining to do!
I did exactly the same a few years ago (I'm generally out of the country in the winter, and used to be very disorganised!), went to the local dvla office, bought a new tax disc, they worked out the back dated tax to pay on top, and that was the last I heard of it. I doubt you can do this at the post office though. And they might be stricter now.
Worth a try though?
Do you have a dvla office nearby?

A list of dvla offices you could go and beg at.

If a Licence is not renewed DVLA wait a month then run a computor check on vehicles not licensed or Sorned. Those that come up they send out an £80 fine.
But in this case they only have an old address so a nasty letter could be lying on the mat somewhere for you. You will be on their record for this so trouble when you renew the Licence.

DVLA office it is then.
I'm going to go the truth route unless anyone objects.
It's a bugger too because my car was taxed for 7 months while I wasn't using it.. It just sat there parked.
Pray you don't get an over officious clerk then or it'll be a nice fine to go with your tax disc. Just pop down the post office and tax it (it's been sat in the garage since November )I'm going to go the truth route unless anyone objects.

I think I'll pop into the post office, tax it, change the address of my car, THEN go to the DVLA and ask about the 3 months it wasn't taxed. I've just done the same thing. I noticed my tax was out of date by about 6 weeks, and having forgotten to inform the DVLA about changing addresses I've managed to avoid any reminders.
I ordered a new disc online as soon as I got home yesterday (I'll figure out the logistics of getting the disc later...), but when I woke up this morning there was a clamp on my car. Who on earth goes around clamping cars on a Sunday morning? There's going to be a load of long, very apologetic phonecalls tomorrow. Probably expensive ones too.
