I last did this trip to claremont's a few years back on a boxing day and enjoyed it,it was good to get off the settee and in a standing position(my christmas tree strobe lights along with many shandies had me hypnotised ) and away from the "guns of navarone" for the umpteenth time.
One thing i like about Tom is atleast he's honest and will say he's not the cheapest..but then he's a buisenessman.

Actually, I will say this for Tom as he helped me with my '85 Corvette a lot. I was a total ignoramus and would ring him for oil filters etc which were cheap and every time I tried to order a part, he'd ask why and when I explained, he'd say I didn't need it so he'd never rip you off. He also located a second hand alloy after I kerbed one and the price was reasonable.

After another dealer failed to diagnose a fault on my car after having it 2 weeks, he fixed it in a couple of hours. Nothing was too much trouble.

But I still don't get his car prices. Anyone looking for a Vette would be literally forced to go elsewhere due to the £5k difference in some cases. When I paid my visit, I expected his cars to be pristine examples but they were just ordinary Vettes. But it's his business, he can run it as he likes.

Travelling to Lemans in 2002 my transmission threw a wobbly about 20km north of destination, called GF and advised that it couldn't be fixed (turned out later to be failure of a 4 day old converter!) and made arrangements for them to return, unaccompanied, to UK in 3 weeks. On return a large hole in the sump had appeared, needless to say there was no oil left and some kind soul had run the engine to destruction! Eventually after 9 months of haggling GF agreed to pay for crate motor, so alls well that ends well, I'm now with RAC so hope there are no horror stories there!
