Mine is the blue Zr-1, it will not be in your league however. I am not sure how much a ZR1 weighs in kilos, anyone know ?

I hope to have around 500Hp but I think that the tyres are going to be the critical thing as I never could get a good launch even before the power went up. I currently have the standard old GSC's and usually spin for the first 2 seconds with a launch at around 1500-2000 revs !
Will yours be the top viper ? Also how did you manage to get that sort of power out - is it supercharged ?

I,m with the AA so no worries!

...apart from the 2 hour wait for them to come and get ya

Should be a good event this year. Looks like both the Vipers and the 'Vettes are going there with much more preperation this time.

Wondered when you would turn up Cliff. You see youve really given me the bug for this..

I just read on another forum that in races against Vipers it is taken as a general rule that Vipers need 1.5 HP ratio to a ZR-1's 1HP due to the rev differences etc. !!!

I just wonder if anybody remembered to tell the Viper owners ?!

Z064LIFE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT. So :zip it:

I know what the Vipers will be running this year and they ain't bluffing.......

BTW I am expecting a lot of broken Viper transmissions, drive shafts etc by the end of the day....

Fair enough VHR, I agree to a slight extent (not taking into account the concept of broken parts).

Jason,

Bad news is the standard ZR-1 weighs around 1600kg.

Good news is for the 1/4 mile, it will be down to who has the most traction, not necessarily the most power.

Different story for the top speed run, though. Viper or Skyline which will it be?

I really recommend binning the GSC's, they are too old and I wouldn't trust them, I plan to get new tyres for mine before the event.

Richard, Glad you will be going it should be a really great atmosphere. I think you need to show me how to launch the car as you are deffinately king of the takeoff !! That was a really great time you did at SP. Is that down to the headers ?

Will you be going for the Nittos again ? Geoff is trying the Yokohamas I think.

As to top speed - lets hope it will be a viper !
I guess I should also be looking to lose some of that excessive weight - but I just can't see myself without the stereo and air-con etc !

The Skyline will always be hard to beat with its excellent electronics and 4 wheel drive, as venom500 knows there should be a proven big budget 1100bhp (at the flywheel) Skyline there this year which will no doubt be the winner if it doesnt break, even Rocket Ronnie with his latest upgrades will struggle against this beast, even though he managed 196mph 2 years ago. Just as well they are in a different class, I reckon 200+mph will go this year as long as its not to hot.
Last years track temperatures slowed quite a few cars down

ITS LIKE A BLOODY DRUG, boy have i been looking forward to this, my aim is to compete in the top speed although ime gonna have a go at the other events.
There is no reason i can see why the vette cannot compete along side the Viper and Skyline ,i havent seen my car for a few weeks now and deffinately have not heard it but ime as keen as ever.

We shall have to make a date up the 'Pod' for some training sessions soon ,perhaps see you there aswell viper.

I think this will be great, I too think that your car will be more potent than people think.

It would be good to get a dual meet together at Santa Pod with the Vipers (although better make it in a while or neither of us will be ready. )
Do you know if the Dyno has been fixed yet ? I will try to get in to see Dan maybe this week and perhaps talk gears ?

This 1100bhp Skyline is most likely to be Keith Cowie's R32, who ran last year. He is planning quite a few upgrades, engine and elsewhere, to his car from the spec he had at TOTB2. I think his is going to be the fastest drag-orientated GT-R this year as it was at TOTB2, and will be the only drag GT-R running (I think, maybe one or two), because due to politics, quite a few of the big power drag GT-Rs modified and used for drag racing have been banned from the event or have pulled out (does suck for the spectator, but wouldn't for me, as I'd come (if) to see the Vipers and Vettes, then to see the Skylines and Supras thereafter).

I also think a Viper can mix with a GT-R on top speed, given similar BHP to a suitable comparison car, and the extra displacement helps, and the Viper having a better P/W ratio (based on venom's figure).

If anyone has a passenger seat available for this trip and doesn't mind their power to weight ratio b**gered for the trip there and back, I am looking for a ride.Too far for me to take my car to park it up and not do anything. Happy to make a contribution to the fuel if needed!!!

Geoff - we need to talk. I've decided not to go with the 500 HP NOS set up.
So what do you think about that 2nd option, extending the frame rails a little and dropping in another LT5, perhaps that flatplane jobbie?
