Hi All,

I'm looking at doing a gearbox and LSD oil change on my 1999 Superlight.

I have the 6 speed Caterham box. I've looked up the oil on the Caterham catalogue and I understand I need 75w90 GL4 oil.
I would happily go to Caterham and buy this as they're just down the road but they're out of stock.

What brands of this 75w90 GL4 would people recommend?

Further to this, I want to do a Diff oil change. I have an LSD. I've read about the Lube Guard additive but I'm not sure if this is relevant to my Diff? Again, this time I understand I need an 80w90 GL5 oil. which I can get from Caterham but do I need the Lube Guard?

Many thanks everyone

Thank you for this chaps..

Viper, what brand of the GL5 with lube guard are we talking? Would the 'Comma EP80w90 GL5' be ok? And I need to add the Lube guard from Caterham to this oil separately correct?

I have used the caterham lubeguard direct from them however if caterham is out of stock then this is the same stuff:

Just checked on caterham site and they have it in stock, little bit more expensive naturally. Their diff oil is also in stock- hypoid 80w90 GL5.

If you don't want to order from caterham, Halfords sells the GL5 hypoid 80w90 stuff too.

if you have a 6 speed gearbox it has a drain plug. I use a oil pump can to fill - takes a while. Some make a copper L piece with pipe and funnel and fill from above. The Diff only has a filler so you will need an extraction pump. I use a Pela 2000, works great from machine mart. Link below

PS Comma GL5 is fine, and yes add to oil, measurement mix is on the tube of lubeguard
