The fronts will lock marginally before the rears. On the roads, you need to LFB a tad for a while when setting off and after a long run without using the brakes to get *some* heat into them before you need them though.

That's not unusual. Rears wear fast. Fronts last forever. I always carry a spare set of rear pads for this reason. Also, check the rears regularly as they wear unevenly- the inner pads usually wear faster than the outer ones too...

Very slightly off-topic but still relevant I think.. I've noticed that my rear brakes run considerably hotter than the fronts. This probably has an effect on wear rate.

Surely it's the higher rate of wear that is causing the increased heat? wink

Not in my opinion. I haven't really noticed any increased wear rate on my rears. The higher running temperature is due (in my opinion) to the rubbish single-piston sliding caliper, the fact they're solid discs, and get less airflow than the fronts.
