I'm in the market for my first Caterham and this keeps popping up, and the price keeps going down! As it has a PH smiley on the back does anyone know anything about it?

I realise it can't be a factory car, but I do like the look of it so would be good to find out if it's been built/converted properly. Thanks.

As far as I know, no Zetec powered Sevens were manufactured by Caterham themselves. However, they were a popular option for those wishing to upgrade Crossflow powered versions or who sourced their own engines for a kit build.

Thanks, yes that's what id gathered too, and apparently some have been converted well and some not so well. That's why I'm hoping somebody on here knows this particular vehicle. Is it also strange a 1999 car has a live axle?

It's almost certainly an ex-scholarship racecar that's been upgraded to a Zetec at some point.

Looks nice and, On the upside, Zetec engines are bomb proof and easily upgraded.

But, maybe a bit pricey for a "hybrid" car?????? I will let others with more experience consider that!

The live axle lived on for a few years after 1997. Most Cross flow cars had live axles and a few of these were converted to Zetec power (that's what my neighbour did).
