Hi, in the process of looking to purchase my first Caterham...once I've managed to sell my Elise Sport 160! I'm looking for a k series R300 or R400, out of interest do you find much benefit removing the cat and installing the decat pipe on K series cars? I didn't bother on the Elise as too much hassle with removing and refitting the undertray wach MOT time.

Louder and flames. Easy to do.

Not sure whether it's the same for the K series, but I did some back to back dyno runs with the Duratec and it produced more power with the Cat fitted. That was probably due to the shape and pulse tuning more than anything else. But the Caterham cats are of a motor sport specification and do not restrict the flow to any significant amount.

For the first two years of ownership of my R300K , I removed the cat and fitted the bypass pipe. It isn't that much of a job and takes 30 minutes or so to do. However, I gave up doing this a few years ago. Can I tell the difference, No.

Hi
I did the same on a 180hp K-series and got the same results as above.
Both silenced decat and decat pipe where loosing 8-12hp on the same RR and same state of engine tune.
It was also VERY noisy.

I had one fitted on a R300K from new.
When I fitted the cat, I couldn't tell any difference.
Save your money.

+1 back to back dyno tests on a 180hp rover elise.
More power above 6k with the standard cat
