Hi all
I would be interested in starting a new engine upgrade project and would need to know what is the longest trumpets you can fit under the bonnet of an s3.
Can i fit 150s or unequal 150/90 without cutting the bonnet? I wouldn't be interested I anything shorter.
Thanks

That will depend on the length of the throttle bodies you are attaching them to, and of course the engine you have.. neither of which you mention.

Tape measure is your friend.

I have 15-20mm trumpets and a cut bonnet to fit the air filter. But so longish manifold and carbs.

Oh, and it's a Westfield tongue out

I am assuming the car is a /k series superlight, with Jenvey DTH bodies and Autoteknix airbox kit the longest trumpets would be around 100mm, the TBs themselves are around 110mm long.

Hi David

It is a1.6 k series roadsport converted to superlight spec.
I haven't yet made my mind on what i would like to do with the engine. In any case it should be fully compliant to emissions standards which is a nightmare in France, so i guess will have to maintain a very mediocre cam overlap...

It is perfectly possible to meet emissions requirements with quite a lot of cam overlap if you have a programmable ECU (which you will need if you have TBs).

Good to know 😊
Let me take a decision and sort out my financials for the project then we will talk details.
Thanks Dave
