Thanks Andy - I’ve really enjoyed your reports through the season. Good luck next year, and keep us posted!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I guess my aim is to encourage as many people as possible to compete, and to show that you can be at the blunt end of the grid and still have a good time.

I know that competing is usually about winning, but at my level of age, time, budget and talent I really am just enjoying taking part. It can be done without going daft on outlay and is still an awesome experience.

Do you mind if I ask what your budget was for the season?
Budget? What's a budget? I just enter the races I think I can afford to enter on a race by race basis. If something goes wrong mechanically or in an accident (fortunately nothing much adverse happened) I don't race until it's fixed.

CSCC annual membership I'd £39 I think. Series registration is £90. Each race entry fee (I did 5) is about £385 on average for 30 min qualifying and a 40 min race. Fuel costs are about £50 per race. A set of tyres (will last all season and probably next season as well) cost £400. I bought a second hand set of "wets" but can't remember what I paid for them but prob about £200. I pay someone to help me out at each race meeting as I am mechanically incompetent - I won't say what I pay him, but is not a massive amount and well worth it.
I replaced a leaking fuel tank (£200 plus labour), I had the car professionally set up and I had a couple of electrical issues, an oil pressure gauge fitted and other odds and sods done which probably cost me £1k from memory.

In one race I shared the car and my racing partner went halves on the days costs and gave me a small "hire fee".

Hope that helps.

Lovely car for the sharp end.

For those on tighter budgets there are a few options for Classes A,B and C here:

Thanks; sounds like my sort of budget!

Am exploring options for next season; if I opt for this, would you think it feasible to share your support and split the cost?
That could be posdible, i would think. I will ask.
Maybe give me a call sometime to chat. PM me for a number.
