"Caterham South.
They claim it could be the Cam in the Duratec engine and is typical in 420’s at this time of year. So basically I shouldn’t be driving it in the cold as the Cam doesn’t like it."
Extraordinary statement from Caterham Cars.

It’s back and behaving slightly better but waiting for this tank to run dry so I can run V Power or Ultimate and test the ethanol theory.

Can you not take the car to somewhere competent who both understand basic engine function and how an ECU works (and are able to interrogate it)? Caterham Cars are clearly incompetant. I would move on from them, possibly having a chat with the relevant dealer principal to explain your current situation, the "diagnosis" his staff have provided, and your proposed course of action in speaking to 3rd parties.

I would suggest a chat with either Track n Road (http://www.tracknroad.com/) or Dave Walker over at Emerald (http://www.emeraldm3d.com/).

Good luck.

Full tank of V Power and the rough idling and low rev grumbles have gone.
No more Momentum for me.
Thank you to everyone for the advice.
