Car to Compliment the 7

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the idea of an Alfa and Alfaholics have something for sale but think that might be over budget. Found a Chimera to look at and rather than the 205 Diesel I got when I commuted 60miles a day for my first job going to look at a 205 GTI, the car I wanted to buy.
I've never had a proper mini so added that to the list
The Evora is the closest handling Car to a 7 I have experienced..I've never had a proper mini so added that to the list

I would suggest a Land Rover Defender but you said with better weather protection
I have a Defender 130 next to my Caterham. Completely different experience but both are loads of fun if you ask me. It's always hard to decide which I take for a road trip. A good quality sealant will sort the leaks! Well we have our 620R, an Extreme off road Defender and our Discovery 4.
The disco is our daily driver and work vehicle, and is either ferrying the kids to school and related events, taking the dog our for Walks to the woods, or carrying huge amounts of drones and related equipment for work. It really is the best all rounder.
Of course every trip in the 620R is a riot, and it’s great for track days and sprints etc.
But and you might be surprised about this, the one that gets used the most for fun trips and just tooling around is the good old defender.
I’m not sure if it’s the fact that everyone loves it, old boys, kids you name it, everyone stops to ask you about it. I literally get more people come up to me in petrol stations to chat than I do in the 620R.
So for something to have fun in, and totally different to the 620R, it fits the bill as a. Caterham partner in crime perfectly.,

I would go for a Jaguar XKR.
Fast, but in a totally different way to the 7. Comfortable, refined and relatively rare. It also, like the 7, has its roots in great British engineering and motorsport.
Convertible option if you want it too, or even go for a supercharged XJ if you need more room or seats.

Nigel - it looks like that Defender is modded to help you prep for some zombie apocalypse, off grid sort of thing ? Is it one from the firm 5 minutes down the road from me - Twisted?
It’s not quite that well prepped! An no as much as I would love a Twisted Defender it not one of their creations either sadly, plus they are far to nice to do the stuff we do off road!

I found the Evora to be 'duller' than the Exige if getting close to a 7 is the goal! When I had my first Seven in the early 90s I ran a succession of BMW 3 series coupes as my daily drive. That worked quite well.
For the last five years I have run MX5s as a 'sensible' fun car alongside my current Caterham, and Mrs M runs a Kodiak, which is the workhorse. That works even better, and covers all the bases.

GT-R
4 seats, massive boot, special car, eats miles. Can be had for 30k now too.
Most 7 owners are unlikely to like a car so point and shoot as a GTR. Something with a little bit of balance / rear end play at least.4 seats, massive boot, special car, eats miles. Can be had for 30k now too.
I'd want the other car to be different, not the same. Besides, you can change them to RWD only, it's just a kit.

Looking for something different but with better weather protection and not a daily driver to run alongside the 7 (1.6K supersport)
Two seats fine, better with four, not an Elise. Suggestions please, doesn't have to be modern, must be interesting though.
Budget up to £30k
Suggestions please.

Land Rover Defender. Will feel equally as special as the 7. But all weather capability. And will always feel comfy compared to a 7.
Cheap to run and rock solid residuals too.
