1988 Caterham 7 chassis numbers

I have seen a 1988 Caterham Super 7 for sale here in Norway where the chassis number is given as AM88423. I know Caterham did not start using standard VIN format until about 1990. Does the chassis number appear correct?

Hi that's not the VIN number that's the chassis build number as they were made by Arch motorsport hence the AM at the beginning

The actual chassis number should be stamped on the windscreen motor mount, and on the side of the pedal box, under the removable aluminium cover.
