Dont Formula Ford still use them ?
I expect so, and they'll say not for road use or something of that ilk on them. Then yu'd need to decide whether that meant it was illegal to use them on the road or not!

The road tyres are slightly different in compund I believe......

Had a formula ford and tried putting the wheels on the Caterham. Unfortunately they were just a little bit the wrong size.....

Just a small point.
With regard to the description given in the link to PT sports cars (no 64). In the write up about the car it says 138 BHP and in the table alongside 160 BPH. The 0-62 time quoted is given as 4.5 seconds which would probably equate to a 160BPH car. The car is quoted as 1600 CC so I would expect the 138BHP to be correct.

should the rear arches be carbon on a real superlight?

Bert
Yes, definitely. I am lucky enough to have an original Superlight with unpainted arches. The. nose cone, fr & rr arches and dashboard were carbon.

I have an original Superlight and love it having had it for nearly 10 years. Recently added a cage and it has made it noticeably stiffer - much recommended!

Yep and I love them; plus they really improve cars’ road presence. On the move as I expect most of you know a Caterham is very easily not seen in other road users’ mirrors. Anything which improves that is a good thing in my book.

If any of you are interested, I have a website about my Superlight. (#106), Superlights in general and have monitored the market for Superlights and SLRs over the last few years. This may be of interest to anyone looking for a Superlight.... Also, proven to cure cases of insomnia! biggrin

I like the stickers, the orange looks fantastic against the dark body.

A little update guys.
After the disappointment I had with the seller of the yellow Superlight, I got lucky and I got told for this 2003 R300 superlight. Super clean, well looked after and I'm over the moon smile

Is there an easy way to tell they are carbon once painted? My Superlight has been fully painted so it doesn't really matter but it would be nice to know the carbon was still under there and not sold off and replaced with normal.

Can you not tell from underneath as it shouldn't be painted?

Carefully run your finger around the edge of the wing near the tyre. Carbon will still be sharp and much thinner than the thicker and smoother edge of a GRP one

when you pushed them with one finger my carbon ones flexed easily, the fibreglass ones didn't

If anyone wants to know about PT , please get in touch.
Is there a story to tell? I've also considered their superlight #64 only from a distance at present.

Ooh nostalgia night - I had a 2000/X superlight - with lumenition ignition and throttle bodies got to 160 bhp. Had to sell it to find the money for plumbing in our barn conversion 12 year ago. Loved that car
