Not sure on that one. If you haven’t tried it may be worth disconnecting the battery which will reset the ECU and then trying to start and see how it runs (if you have a battery cut off then this does the same job in which class you’ve probably already tried it). Other potential I can think off could be the lambda sensor in the exhaust (not sure if the 1.6 has one) giving dodgy readings to the ECU.

Sorry to jump on post, looking for some urgent help! I bought a caterham 1.6 road sport three weeks ago it’s a 2019 plate, been running fine till Sunday when it felt a bit jumpy driving around, refuelled after been driving for around an hour then tonight when I started it, it blew a massive ball of grey smoke out the exhaust then when I went to rev it, it stalled and now I have an engine warning light on.

Would appreciate any thought on what this could be as I’m not much of a mechanic??

Again sorry for jumping on post
What fuel did you put in it?

Have you checked oil levels recently?

(I'd start a different thread).

Perhaps a new thread would help get more people on board. . . . but my first thoughts would be to eliminate poor fuel. What location are you? Sounds typical of Caterham/Ford fuel rail using a generic fuel that seems to be found in northern parts - Central Scotland in particular. Get yourself some shell V Power or BP Ultimate and see if the problem reduces or goes away.

Yea thanks everyone think I’ll drain the tank and try better fuel, does anyone know if the check engine light should even work as most things I’ve ready say it should be disconnected??
