Does anyone know of any MOT garages who are aware of caterhams in the St. Albans area? i.e. not run by some notepad wielding jobsworth....

Hi,

Not specifically caterham aware, but I have used the garage behind the shell garage on the roundabout in smallford on hatfield road. These guys, despite appearances do a lot of unusual cars, they do a lot of the porsche centre cars, as well as rolls and bentley. They are sympathetic to interesting cars.

Worth giving them a go.

Why send private mail? Surely if you're answering a question you should just post the answer? I'd like to know also. And do you mean by "Caterham friendly" that they have a spare catted exhaust one can borrow?

Hi Danny.
The reason I sent a pm is because I was telling Ferg about a place owned by a friend of mine, where I take my own car to be MOT'd. It's just that I didn't want to publish the details on a public forum in case it was construed as advertising.
So... nothing sinister!

I don't think it's advertising if you're responding to a query? Anyway - 2 years to go in my case, but always good to know!

Fergus, you old bugger - you bought a Caterham then?...1998 SLR ...

FWIW I had my VX MOTd in Bishop's Stortford - it's a 1997 car and they weren't bothered about Catalysts etc....But if I were you I'd find out who Chris Wheeler at 7 Workshop uses and take the car to them.

PS, I'm still thinkng about E30 M3s....

Yep, let's do that. I did consider the one on PH recently £3500 - guy in Chelmsford owns it, but it is probably too much of a cosmetic challenge for me, given the asking price! How long have you had the 7 for? You could do a lot worse than use Steve Parker for some of the work - he's cheap and has done some good work for me and I'm pretty fussy!
