Thanks I'll try those out, I just bought 4 Yokohamas AO48r (from george polly) those were recommended as well, really miss driving it around, have to do a track day soon

Do not go balls out until you have some miles under them. Yoko are liberal with release agent on their tyres which is slippery as hell and tales time to wear off!

Also, avoid standing water. I'm not convinced 48Rs will be that good with it (though have never used them).

And finally, don;t run these at 30psi etc. Start at 16-18psi.

Will do Murph thanks, when I have the tyres fitted I'm also having the camber and tracking looked at (following the specs in the manual) so hopefully it'll be up and running by next weekend

Does your car have adjustable spring platforms?

If so, you might be better getting the whole lot flat floored at a decent Caterham shop.

If your car hasn't, and you're up for spending a few hundred quid, get a decent Caterham shop to fit some and set the car up

Hi Murph,

Would it be a major benefit to get it flat floored? And also (bit of a random question) what's the top you've taken yours up to?

Cheers!

Forget it!

I've tried Vmaxing my R400 (allegedly tops out circa 140) but by 125 it was verging on the Fangio meets Animal during Communication Breakdown-I'm about to be sucked into the vortex.

So I came of the 'bahn and went were the 'tin belongs - the hills!

Schnell, SCHNELL!!!

IMO decent tyres make the biggest difference to the way the car handles (when coming from crap ones - I had Michelin Pile Ups on mine when I bought it). So definitely do that first.

But flat flooring is also very useful. Take it to a decent place and tell them how you like your car to handle (lurid oversteer, neutral, understeery etc) and they'll be able to make it happen.

Top speed? Not sure but in excess of 120mph. As der notes, it's not the most fun experience (the front goes noticably lighter, it's VERY noisy, the car struggles against the air and it's not where it enjoys being

More fun was having a wee contest with a fellow 7er (Phlea - member here too I believe) to see who could get the higher top speed on a straight on track just before a nice corner He eventually pipped me by 1mph - I think he had 117mph, though it could have been 107mph. Either way it focussed the mind a fair bit

lol great analogy, it's definatly more fun on those B roads. Been driving around in it all day today, still on the pile ups haven't got round to fitting the new tyres - next weekend for sure! Is anyone part of the Penn Sevens here?
