Pugsey - did they ask for more money for a keyless ignition switch? Re build date - my order went in a couple of weeks ago, so should be available around the same time as yours! Can't wait!
They don't know exactly how much yet but "less then £200" I'm rapidly getting into 'who care's it's only money mode' - I just hope they don't come up with any more boxes to tick!

you want to be tempted with more options, let me see what I can do First though can you recap the spec you've gone for and what you intend using the car for?

ok, how about (in no particular order):

1) Super wide track inboard suspension
2) dry sump
3) stack dash
4) cut off switch
5) full carbon (front, rear wings and nosecone, interchangeable aero and mirrors)
6) race master cylinder
7) SLR cage
8) programmable sequential shift lights?
9) r500 carbon effect leather tunnel top
10)Kevlar tillets?
11)MB magnesium split rims
12)plumbed in fire extingisher
13)uprated springs and shock absorbers
14)minimalist dash
15)alloy gearknob and handbrake
16)alloy fuel filler
17)tonneu and half doors
18)expensive tasteless paint job including cage and '7' on the grill

and I'm sure I can think of more....

...that should easily take you to £35K+

You are jesting?

Unless by keyless they mean they provide the services of a topless supermodel to turn it on for you, they are having a laugh!

Ask them what they're doing...I reckon parts are 15 quid and if this adds more than an hour to the build I'd be amazed, especially as you're starting from a kit of parts!

Yup….about £20 sqids for a aero flip switch, connect the two wire from the barrel, and job’s done

Unless…..the heads have sheared off of the steering column lock fixing bolts, then your buggered and its the saw!!!

the R500s came with a different transmission tunnel leather with that carbon fibre effect - apparently it's very expensive.

because I specced my R400 without a windscreen, or heater (and have no intention of fitting such unneccessary items!) I didn't want all the redundant switches (like heated screen, wipers and...I can't think of anything else hehe) I got them to do me a minimalist dash

Oh and you also want to go for the smaller headlights which look much better than the ridiculously large standard ones and also carbon fibre indicater pods...and I'll think of some more by tomorrow

Naturally it'll be a rip off whatever, but it's a bit more than the switch as you are effectively getting a keyless entry system with remote card etc. Otherwise, with no key, anyone could just jump in your car and drive off I suppose.

Nope, still can't get my head round 'carbon effect leather' - are they breeding bullit proof cows now?! Many of the things you mention are standard btw.

yes many of the things I mentioned were no cost options on the R400, many may remain no cost options but some are now costed options on the Duratec R400.

Jackal, just be aware, that you may not be allowed on trackdays soon with that steering wheel. I have the same one, and am not allowed to race with it. One of the MSA scrutineers said that there has been at least one instance of it going through the visor aperture on someone's helmet yikes My dash is almost identical, albeit with a slighly older dash.

PS mechanical handbrake, what's that all about then?! hehe You want a linelock for that uncluttered look (and a friendly MOT tester)

Are you sure?

I'd guess they just do as mentioned above - wire up the switch and a push button and rely on the immobiliser for protection. After all, keys long since gave decent anti-theft anyway.

Mike - I actually prefer the larger headlights. Think the small ones look too beady.

Each to their own.

Still K series..............that may prove a problem to some, especially at resale. There again, maybe not??

I agree, just figured buyers will very soon want Duratec R400 just for the latest kit.
