Come on ruby that's a bit harsh.

I mean, the R32 is the epitomy of evolution wink

I don't live far from KUB3 - he's in Maldon. Perhaps I should drop by and take him out for a run in my ugly 7...he is a self confessed fan of 4wd machinery, having had his fill of ill handling, big powered fwd cars, so it might be difficult to persuade him into the car hehe

Under cover of darkness I trust rubystone. We don't want anyone seeing how truly vile your car is do we.wink I'm going to tow mine everywhere (in a covered trailer of course) behind my Defender90 - another pug ugly, useless beast. No wonder LR never sold any!

I'd have to agree with his point, a 7 does look sh1t but then that's missing the point really, it's about the driving experience on track, on road it is sh1t as well so doesn't really have a lot going for it to be fair, so why the hell have I spent £45K so farconfused

If you could get the same thrill and on-track driving experience and speed but with something that look visually appealing then I'd jump at it tbh - something like the new Raceline car, looks like a mini Panoz Le Mans car (from 2001) with some good aerodynamics but should have similar handling characteristics to a 7, now that should be a great car.

Mike - it depends on how you look at it - I think a 7 is a great looker, espeically when aero'd. My R500 is excellent on the road - why is yours shit?...

As to the Raceline car - I agree....only yesterday a colleague at work was showing me photos of the clay and I was impressed...until I saw the date these were taken - in 2003!!!!! Surely the longest gestation period for any car?...and with the Lotus 2 Eleven arriving on the scene, I have a feeling that might hoover up all the trackday car cash...and it's a car that you can drive to and from the circuit - the Raceline's like a Radical...you can't really drive these things on the road...

I also think the 7's a decent looking machine.

A car set up ideally for track is likely to be too skittish on road (suspension too firm). I've always found the car very enjoyable on road and track.

Not convinced about the looks of a Panoz (mini or otherwise).

And the Lotus thing with the Elise tub is getting a bit boring IMO. They need to find better ways of dressing it up or make some more serious changes. The Europa, for example, is an insult to the original.

That was an evil trick they played, getting my hopes up when I read about it, then when i saw it, that was a bad day, it was just another Elise. Why do they insist in making new cars, and naming them after old ones, it just tarnishes the name.

Many people buy Caterhams and the lookalikes prescisely BECAUSE they look the way they do. It really is quite remarkable the way even very young children of no more than 4 years old recognise that a Caterham is `different' to ordinary cars, and point them out to whoever is pushing the push chair, Drive past in a £60000 plus tin top, and they dont even give it a first glance let alone a second!
Drive down a street in a sub £10000 Caterham behind a multi thousand pound tin top, and the Seven will get as many if not more people taking notice. All this before we even get on to the subject of performance and handling. The Caterham beat the Koeniggsegg around the Top Gear test track. Change the shape of Seven type cars and no one will buy them.
