Right then gents, will be taking my new car for its first blast on this day. Thought I'd start a thread for anyone else joining for the day. My car isn't new, its a 2006 academy car that did RSB last year and will be ready for RS next year. Hell I need the time on the track.....!!!

Only £80 for an open pit lane... almost praying for it to be greasy as I like a challenge!

I think its a bit optimistic calling Abingdon a track, its an old airfield, where you drive around a circuit marked out with cones. But if that fires your rockets enjoy.

I think getting to know a car without armco is pretty sensible don't you?

No not really, the surface will be far worse than a track. Getting the feel for lines and how the car reacts on a circuit will also be harder, as its flat and around cones.

Each to their own though, enjoy.

£80 is good value if you treat it as a shakedown day... Abingdon is the worst airfield venue i have been to, the track is wide for about 3 corners (various places on the lap), then the rest of the layout is spoiled by coned areas which are narrower than a single lane road. If you go off in the coned areas there is a huge grass bank to get you instead of armco!

I think you'll have a good laugh.

As some have said, it's not a very big circuit, not does it have a long straight, but with a Caterham, the twisty sections will test your handling and sections in between will enable you a burst of speed.

Should be able to overtake all of the heavy track cars there on the day.

I saw this thread earlier and was expecting your reply Colin.
