Just bought an R500 and about to change the oil. Does anyone know what the correct capacity is? The manual says 6 ltrs but I have also heard that 5.5ltrs is the correct amount.

Not keen on simply filling and then using the measuring technique within the tower as accuracy is affected by revs.

By far the best way to check the oil is to measure from the bottom of the tank immediately after switching off. It should be, if I remember correctly, 9.5 inches.

Mine took 4.5litres last oil change, it's not a 500 but the same dry sump system. Any overfill will be spewed into the catch tank anyway.

Just fitted the same DS system on our SLR and put 6 litres in before an Oulton Park trackday and there is hardly anything thrown in the catchtank.

Take the bell tower cap off, look inside and you will see a lip on the drivers side of the car where the rounded aprt of the bell housing starts.

If you can get the oil level about 40-50mm below the top of that then your laughing.
