i have just got all the details from caterham, build sheet, invoices ( 42k ) spec etc. they say for sure the only factory built EVO SV? in fact only 3 EVOs in total. one purple, one rizla blue and this one...

views v v welcome on price etc , as its this or a atom300 for a trackday monster.

thanks v much all
I'd buy the Atom myself eekgetmecoat

....not just because everyone I know has been blown away by them, including more than one seasoned, embittered, chain smoking journo (who, as far as I know, doesn't frequent this forum...yet)

...but also because this R500 SV Evo is unique, in being the only genuine factory built (non-crashed....?) car. The Rizla one has had one well documented Armco/carbon interface and I know nothing of the purple car,but both of those are standard bodied cars. As a consequence of that, you may be paying a bit of a premium for the car, although it's not far off the value of a standard well kept R500.

Depends on whether you really want a Caterham or are just looking for some trackday thrills. Had you considered a Lotus 2/11? I crawled over one last week - very well thought out car indeed and with over 160 sold, no shortage of demand to keep the price up....

Ruby, thinking of coming into Lotus ownership then? Not sure I could live with a 2/11 although I did briefly consider a 340r... before the Exige I hasten to say!

Right....so let's look at the evidence then....in the past couple of years I think you've owned at least one example of every major model of the Elise...and now you're hoovering up Exiges too....only a matter of time before the 2/11 ensnares you....

In truth, why do I need the 2/11? My car is pretty much set up to my liking, it's way beyond my modest driving capabilities and yet still gives mea buzz every time I drive it. Why, I even found myself stroking it the other day whilst pottering about in the garage....the car, that is....

I was looking for Caterhams on the Autotrader website yesterday and found a 2007 R500. I didn't realise Minister were still doing these engines for Caterham after the switch to Cosworth/Duratec? Maybe someone has found a couple of R500/R500 EVO motors in the back of a shed and built this SV and the R500 up from bits?

I was at CML at the weekend and was chatting to them about the SV Evo - I saw the original order form for the car which was built at CML (not the factory), so it looks genuine.

It also has carbon wings front and rear - underneath the yellow paint!
