Hi,

Could someone please let me know when and where 7 owners get together in the west midlands?

There's an itch I need to scratch but I'd like to poke around some of these fine motors and ask questions first.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

There is an area meet this Thursday between Rugeley and Lichfield. Its the Mid-Staffs one and is always on the 3rd Thursday of the month. http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?Id=149766

Whereabouts are you located as that will help to identify a good meet to attend. I attend several (Cheshire & Staffs, MADS nr Chester, Mid Staffs, North Wales....)

What qualifies as west Midlands? There are loads of meets out there, some for the different marques, others are just for 7 of any type, or kits in general.

Lotus7Club meets are a good bet for the following reasons:
1. You'll always be well received and introduced to anyone whom may have knowledge of anything you're particularly interested in, e.g. sprinting, racing, etc.
2. Owners typically bring their cars as they're reliable and won't be sitting in shed waiting for some bit to be nailed on. As such, you can actually look over cars.
3. Other than me, most owners are friendly and happy to talk to newcomers.
4. The L7C offers a lot of social and competition events that you may be interested in.
5. The L7C doesn't do racing itself, but if you go to a meet, there's a good chance one of the racers will be lurking should you wish to talk to them.

Thanks.

Bigfoot7: obviously I clicked all the links on the lotus 7 club but not that one...doh!

Tango7: I am in Rugby. weekly meets are good and I will try to make it there one day but obviously, work commitments mean I can't always be free during the week. Any big gathering happening once or twice a year anywhere in the country but over the weekend?

I have read about Stoneleigh08 on Blatchat but struggling to find more info. If you guys can help...

Adam: Not particularly interested in racing at the moment but I'm not against a few track days during the year. However I am more interested in long distance driving (I know... I'm mad, my wife tells me so quite often). For some reason, doing so in such a car appeals to me.

Thanks for the replies everyone

Hi JB,

I suppose Rugby's closest could be Warwickshire which happens to have an Area Rep vacancy so not much help there for you but I expect the lads still meet each month.

WRT Stoneleigh, this is an excellent event for all the family as well as the car enthusiast. Its held on Sunday 4th-Monday 5th May, the first bank holiday weekend. The Club stand is close to one of the main entrances and we expect there to be over 400 cars there over the two days. Sunday is usually the busiest and we have seen nearly 300 cars there which makes it one of (if not the biggest) club stands of the whole show. All the different engine variants and models will be there and with such a big club gathering, its definitely the right place to go to for a chat about the cars.

The rest of the show is also excellent with masses to see and buy. You can camp on the club stand if you want and camping forms are available. The thread on BC is http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?Id=148656
You don't need to be a club member or owner to partake in the camping.

For the touring, the seven is surprisingly very good at travelling long distance in as well as track days and fast blats round local roads. Several of us are making the trip to Le Mans again this year and last year we did a blat to Italy in a week (2,300 miles...) and took in the Nurburgring on the way home!

Have a look here under "What's On". You'll find a map of all the local area meetings.

JB Rugby, did you make it to the Warwickshire meeting?

I'm in Rugby if you want to have a look over a 7 at some point.

Ro55ifumi,

You would be very welcome at the Wybunbury meet. During the summer months its definitely a tyre kicking session in the car park. We have around 20-25 cars turn out if the weather is decent. Unfortunately I won't be at the next meet if you come along as it coincides with the Le Mans trip but there will be a few others still around.

Cheers

There's an email 'list' at www.se7ens.net whose members organise a couple of tours a year for themselves. Might be what you're after?
