hi there cat bypass pipe very easy to fit, i fitted one on my r300 a year ago took no longer than an hour or so, with regards to noise level increase yes its certainly a bit louder but nothing thats gonna drop old dears in the streetangelas regards to more ommph well i think that the mid range is helped but to be honest nothing thats going to make your eyes pop, but what it certainly will do is improve the cars looks so that alone has to be worth at least another 10 hpsmokina real way to improve noise and performance is to see dave andrews at dva power subject to funds its the ultimate sweet shop for a k series fan i went from a 300s 160horses to 247 and ye gods you can certainly hear feel smell tast the difference. one thing though the tangs that bolt the down pipes to the bypass pipe have both cracked causing a rather frustrating rattle, easy to weld the bypass pipe but tricky on the down pipesmadcatterham seemed not to be aware of this problem although i have read / heard of it on other forums so maybe its a question of aligning the main exhaust box.

Hmmm,

So you mean the tags (I think there are two of them) have cracked? I'm surprised at that as I thought there would have been less weight on the by pass pipe than one with a cat?

Did they completely snap off the down pipe?

Had them snap twice on two different cars. Only remedy was to get a friend to weld them up with a support piece alongside (effectively to make them double thickness) and this should stop future problems. He did a cracking ('scuse the pun!) job on the last one as the original pieces had disappeared and there was nothing in place to use as a template.

Totaly agree with the above comments and yes there are two tangs or tags per side of the exhaust, not sure why caterham use this system as alot of performance car and bike setups use springs to tension the joints which i would imagin allows for far more vibration and heat expansion on the joints, anyway best of luck with it i hope to get mine back together later today, with a bit of extra welding to stop this happening againbanghead

had my tags welded twice, bought another collector, now the tags on the actual down pipes are carcking. Decided I'm not going to bother again, the exhaust can't come off, so stuff it

Interestingly the exhaust for a VX car has the springs on! Must be just the K series car confused
